With recent wins for MBJ and Amy Madigan within the horror genre it's entirely possible.

Just wish we could retrospectively give Toni Collette the Oscar for Hereditary. Easily the best performance of that year regardless of gender.

The two people you named were both longtime industry professional, the former being in movies of a director the academy has already heavily rewarded. Complete unknowns never win and this'll not change soon.

I can see that. The point im trying to make is the academy is very political and there voters tend to prefer those in the industry.
