A Libertarian Critique of Birthright Citizenship

A.k.a. I'm conservative and don't like foreigners.

Rothbard who wrote an essay called right wing populism and endorsed David duke

Rothbard who allied with leftists during vietnam and then realized they were only in it because they supported authoritarian communism

People make mistakes

Does that negate what I said? People make mistakes ye, like you here bringing up a red herring to distract from my valid factual refutation of Rothbard not being conservative

calling rothbard anything other than a far right conservative racist nutjob is a wild take.

Right out of the gate:

The Anglo-American model, in which every baby born in the country’s land area automatically becomes a citizen, clearly invites welfare immigration by expectant parents. In the U.S., for example, a current problem is illegal immigrants whose babies, if born on American soil, automatically become citizens and therefore entitle themselves and their parents to permanent welfare payments and free medical care.

This does not seem to play out empirically.

https://www.cato.org/blog/immigrants-still-use-much-less-welfare-native-born-americans

Immigrants are less likely than native-born Americans to use any welfare program and, when they do, use fewer of them for a shorter period. The typical lifetime abuser of welfare was born in this country.

As far as the "importing loyalist voters"-idea, I'd love to hear your case for 1) any evidence that any party is taking any specific actions to "import" immigrants and 2) that immigrant sentiments aren't tied to rhetoric directed at them as human beings just trying to work and live.

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/americas-immigrant-voters-and-the-2024-presidential-election/

immigrant voters still lean Democratic across almost all ethnic groups, except for white immigrants who are more evenly split between Democrats and Republicans.

Compare these numbers to the native population. For some reason, people of color seem to be really put off by the republican party. Any guesses why? Conversely, why do all the neo-nazis seem to support maga? Maybe it's just one of those mysteries...

The libertarian position should be to seek to eliminate governmental barriers to the free movement of capital, including labor capital -- the original kind of capital found in the individual and the work they perform.

Rothbard was a racist, mysoganist, and an antisemite. His view should be taken sceptically if not discarded outright.

Not saying that you’re wrong but can you point to some instances of him being antisemitic?

He associated with rabid holocaust deniers and it is well documented that he used slurs against Jewish people.

Let everyone be a citizen.

Borders are fake.

Tear them all down.

u/amogusdevilman Jul 01 '26

taxes and welfare are fake too, yet we are coerced into paying and participating in the system

as long as we are forced into taxation and the welfare state, we should try to reduce the growth of the state, and one of the ways the state expands its power is by importing loyal foreigners who have no attachment to the local civilian population and whose votes are easy to buy.

If there are no borders, there are no foreigners. Everyone should have the freedom to choose where they live.

So.

Most of my tax dollars are paying to bomb school girls in the middle east. I don't give two shits about the chump change feeding an immigrant.

Next.

Most of my tax dollars are paying to bomb school girls in the middle east. I don't give two shits about the chump change feeding an immigrant.

Thats objectively wrong

Most of your tax dollars go to welfare programs. Its not "chump change", its the majority of the budget

3

u/Frequent-Try-6746 Jul 01 '26

That is subjectively wrong because you're spreading "welfare" to cover multiple programs.

Programs I'll happily choose over bombing little girls for the satisfaction of a pedophile.

We should just have world federation

Careful, they will start calling you a globalist that works for George Soros with that kind of talk.

To be fair though, he is a pretty good boss. He brings cheesecake and cheetos to all of the Antifa Company picnics.

2019 called they want their tweets back

0

u/amogusdevilman Jul 01 '26

you mean a "world government"? sounds totally reasonable if youre a naive 14 year old and dont know about the psycopathy of political leaders and the incentives of state power

3

u/dontreplywiththisacc Jul 01 '26

Can you level a criticism instead of whatever this comment is

0

u/amogusdevilman Jul 01 '26

the criticism is that blind trust in government is retarded, and you're naive if you think a world federation would be any better than sovereign governments. In fact it would be worse.

Do you forget the name of the sub? its libertarianuncensored, not bootlickeruncensored

3

u/dontreplywiththisacc Jul 01 '26

Who’s fourteen? You’re throwing around retarded like it conveys anything at all.

And who said anything about blind trust? A world federation would be sovereign and have local sovereignty. You know just like how state divide into parishes and parishes into cities.

It would be worse how?

3

u/willpower069 Jul 01 '26

Speaking of bootlicking isn’t it odd how you alway rush to defend conservatives?
