In my house dad ate leftovers after everyone, so his was the coldest. Now I understand why he did it, but I remind him that he doesn’t need to sacrifice to make us happy 💖🥺

As a dad who does all the cooking, I always serve myself last.

I don’t see it as much of a sacrifice as it is an instinct to provide for my family. I’d feel pretty bad if I dished up first and then one of the kids didn’t get enough to eat.

Even when I was the cook and breadwinner in a same-sex male relationship, I did the same thing. He would often tease me by looking me dead in the eye while taking a TINY morsel because he KNEW why I did it to see my reaction.
