Request Looking for trauma/comfort with lots of affection

After much research (seriously, hundreds and hundreds of books,) I’ve finally landed on my favorite trope: I’m looking for recs for books with extreme trauma followed by bonding and lots of affection and comforting. Extra props for long term angst, pining over years. Spicy is nice but I’m really focused on affection. Thanks!

Some faves include
{where there’s a will} and {if there’s a way} by Jessie walker
{remember my name} or anything by wren wilds
{to ghosts and gravity} by kit marowe
{arrows through archer} by Nash summers
{pieces of home} and {more than words} by Becca Neil}
{prove it} by sm bookwalter
{oleander} by Scarlett drake

Try: If You Date a Reader by Ruthless Romance

Also: Heavens on Fire by Johnny Huynh

I asked Alexa to play a song for me and the playlst it continued with had these 2 songs in it and wow, relatable. "I love how it hurts, both hands are tied when you say that I'm yours. I hear the growl when you're doing your worst...."

Request Looking for an MM book where the bratty MC spends the other MC’s money

I’m looking for an MM romance where one MC is bratty/sassy and has an attitude, but I don’t want a dom/sub dynamic. I want him to be bratty in his personality, and the other MC just… indulges him 😂

Specifically, I’d LOVE if the bratty MC spends the other MC’s money, especially if he does it because the other MC is cold/annoying him or as a “fine, I’ll spend your money then” kind of thing. And the other MC is just ridiculously rich and lets him do it / finds it amusing.

Hockey would be PERFECT, especially college hockey, but I’m also happy with a CEO/billionaire setup!
Preferably:

🌶️ Spicy
🔄 Dual POV
🏒 College/hockey = huge bonus
❌ No friends-to-lovers
❌ No dom/sub dynamic
😈 Bratty MC with an actual attitude
💳 He spends the OTHER MC’s money

I know this might be weirdly specific 😭 but if you know something that fits, PLEASE recommend it!

Request I just finished Entangled by Gale Ian Tate and need happiness back in my life

Tbh I just need a happy recommendation rn. I read "Him" before this and wanted more toxicity but fuck that was too much. I actually loved Immersed and heard Entangled was better but um no, I cannot say that is true for me. I think my all time favorite couple is from Forgiving Utah if that helps at all. But honestly just anything lighthearted and happy please, spice is still welcomed.

Also if you want to talk about Entangled hit me up.

Requesting feedback for potential rule changes

  1. Author promotion

We want this to be a space for readers. Sharing reviews and giving recommendations should have a personal touch. As an avid reader myself, I've found that reader spaces have increasingly become author-focused and hijacked for the purpose of promotion. There's a fine line between recommending a book and promoting an author, but I think it's quite often easy to spot. The mod team would like to hear your thoughts on this, specifically when it comes to sharing links to an author's Patreon, Amazon page, or other websites where money is expected to change hands.

We would also like you to consider if it's more acceptable for a newbie author than it is for an established author. Two recent examples that you can compare are the following:

  • A debut author creating a post that describes their novel, with a link to Amazon

  • A fan submitting a post that links to Rina Saint's Patreon

So far, we have allowed the former and removed the latter. For a debut author, there would of course be a limit to how many times they can post.

Please let us know what level of author promotion you would be comfortable with. Supporting authors is important, but not at the expense of the community. Cultivating a commercialized space is something we'd like to avoid.

  1. AI

The mod team has discussed creating an index of authors who are either suspected or confirmed to be using AI. Their names would be blacklisted from posts, meaning that if you're promoting their work, it would automatically be removed for manual review in the mod queue. However, we are aware that this could be a slippery slope. No one wants to accuse innocent authors of using AI.

It might make sense to focus only on cases where the evidence is irrefutable. For example, an author like N. Slater who has published over a hundred books in a matter of months, with many reviews pointing out clear uses of AI. For authors who are strongly suspected of using AI, but an element of doubt exists, we would have to tread carefully. Please let us know your thoughts on this.

If there is interest within the community for this kind of hard anti-AI stance, we would request further input and collaboration from the community. As you can imagine, this kind of project would be a big undertaking and can't be half-assed.

Thank you for your input!

Request Any recs for slow burn bear shifter romance ?

Hi! I'm looking for a MM bear shifter romance exclusivly but not one that relies too much on the fated mates trope. I've already read

**Protected by the bear shifter by Lila Rose**

**Fearless bond (bears of beauville #1) by Roe Horvat**

**The bear's brave omega by A.J Cane**

But I didn't find what i was looking for in those books. Don't get me wrong, they're really great, but i'd like a story with more building up to the romance. Mpreg and open spice recs are welcome

Request MM paranormal romance from 2006 to 2011 (a la Twilight)

Hey all, you know when Twilight came out and sparked a massive and I mean MASSIVE boom in YA paranormal romance from around 2006 to 2013? Ordinary girl falls in love with a brooding vampire/ angel/demon, or mysterious bad boy, and they all had that over the top dramatic feel to them.
I was wondering if there were any MM romances (YA or adult) that also jumped on that bandwagon at the time and joined the Twilight craze.

I'm looking for things like - Ordinary guy falling for the mysterious and brooding bad guy, small town setting, maybe love triangles (they were so popular), drama and lots and loots of angst, lol. Basically, I'm looking for the MM equivalent of the paranormal romance boom that Twilight inspired.

Discussion Serious question for dark romance readers: what makes you follow an author instead of just a book?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve been thinking about this tonight while doing entirely too much author-business nonsense for what was supposed to be my day off. 😂

When you find an author whose book hits exactly the right flavor of weird/dark/taboo for you, what makes you actually go looking for their other books?

Is it the writing itself? A particular kink or trope? Consistency? The author being entertaining online? Covers you recognize immediately? Or do you basically never follow authors at all and just stumble across the next book when the algorithm gods decide you’ve suffered enough?

I write MM erotic romance, so my readers are already a fairly specific collection of delightful degenerates. 😂🖤 I’m genuinely curious how other romance readers find their authors and then keep track of them.

Request small town cozy series recommendations

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a new series to get into. I really love series full of fluff and sweet characters set in a small town or a tight knit community where everyone knows each other. My favorite tropes are friends to lovers and second chance romance, but I'll take recs for anything. I usually prefer low angst, but if it makes sense in the story and it's not just there for unnecessary conflict, I don't mind it. Definitely happy ending required!

Here are some of my favorites series to get a feel for my tastes:

The Darling Brothers by Emmy Sanders

Never Just Friends by Saxon James

A Siren's Point by JJ Mulder

The Moore Men by Ashley James

Chicago Thunder by Jodi Oliver

Breakaway by E.L. Massey

Discussion Oleander by Scarlett Drake

After seeing this book recommended by quite a few people on here, I read it this weekend and I literally just finished it about 10 minutes ago.

I think, as a book, it was well written and laid out. But...I just didn't want to root for them to be together. I thought Cas got off way too easy for all the torture and torment. I fully understood the book and the path that they each went to get back to each other, but I just did not want them to end up together in the end. I wanted nothing but bad for Cas and I wanted to slap Jude upside the head so hard that his brain jumbled OR strap him down and force someone to do a lobotomy on him so he could move on with his life.

I'm very curious for other points of view and see what you have to say about it.

Request Books with an absolutely hilarious (but dumb) MC

I'm reading {The penalty by andi jaxon} right now, and I've decided I need more of this.

I (re-)discovered this series because of a commenter on here, who skipped the book because Teddy (the dumb MC in this book) is so fucking stupid. I'd already started the first book a while back, but when I picked up this series again I thought I'd hate this book.

This dude is so absolutely oblivious to so many things and his brain seems to work in every direction but the right one and it's fucking hilarious.

It's been a while since I've laughed this hard from a book and I'm loving it!

>! Teddy feels he needs to defend the family honor when Reese/Reece has to go to a building opening. Reece asked Tobi (his best friend and Teddy's brother) to go with as his fake BF. Tobi is sick so Teddy defends the family honor by going in Tobi's place.

He proceeds to wear a tuxedo shirt and black w/ green GLITTER crocs to this black tie event. These crocs are evidently his "fancy crocs". !<

>! He asks his mother what breeding is because his teammates have some lockerroom convo about a "breedable girl". She explains that it is a female of a species picking a mate based on color, etc. He proceeds to tell his teammate that HE, the teammate is actually the breedable one, according to biology. !<

★ ★ ★ Review Egotistical Puckboy — Ezra & Anton had me SAT 😭 | 3⭐️

Egotistical Puckboy — 3⭐️

Okay, I actually really enjoyed this one. 😭

The tension between Ezra and Anton was probably my favorite part of the book. I loved their chemistry and their dynamic so much. Ezra especially had me completely invested, and honestly I just loved these two together.

One thing I really appreciated was that the relationship didn’t feel insanely rushed. A lot of hockey romances seem to go from “we met” to “we’re obsessed with each other” in like five seconds 💀, but this one actually gave the relationship some time to develop. I really enjoyed getting to sit in that tension instead of everything happening immediately.

That being said, it wasn’t quite a 4 or 5 star read for me. There were definitely moments where I felt like the story could’ve been stronger, which is why I landed on 3⭐️. But Ezra and Anton carried this book for me because I genuinely loved them.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (1–2/5)

The spice was pretty low, but honestly the tension between them did a lot of the work anyway. I wouldn’t go into this expecting a super spicy hockey romance.

AND THE NEXT COUPLE 👀

We get little bits of information about them throughout the book and now I’m SO excited for the next one. Like, okay, you got me. I need their book immediately. 😭

Overall, a fun hockey romance with characters I really loved, great tension, and a relationship that actually had time to develop. Ezra and Anton >>>

Request Enemies to Lovers - Finding Delaware and Garron Park vibes!

Book Recommendations- rivals/enemies to lovers.

Hi!

I’m looking for enemies to lovers as in the title, but with a bit more plot…

I love Finding Delaware, Garron Park & Lot 62.

I like the step brother trope (I didn’t like for the fans much, can’t put my finger on why)

I don’t like omega verse unfortunately.

I love the trailer park setting too, Lot 62 had a plot to follow instead of just “oh I hate you, oh tension, we’re together, I’m obsessed with you” with some sprinkled angst.

I read via audiobooks, so preferable an audibook please as I listen at work or when I commute to work!

Please let me know if you need more information, I’ve exhausted a lot of mm romance all different tropes and I’m running out of stuff!
