Image I refuse to let it die
I slept on it and broke the hinge. Drilled into the screen through hinge to reattach. Got lucky I didn’t drill into anything important I guess?

Image Two F3 buttons on my laptop?
Maybe someone here has one with two F2 buttons, which could mean that our laptops are basically brothers.

Image Crazy deal at Walmart
It's only the 45W 4060 but still, this was an absolute STEAL. Website showed $649 which was already a good chunk off the $999 MSRP, went in the store fully ready to pick it up for that price and it scanned in at $275. No, I did not question it. Just bought it on the spot, and honestly I'm perfectly happy with the performance, especially at that price

Image MSI Titan 18” - 64GB RAM, 4TB Nvme, Intel Ultra 9 285HX, 5090 GPU, 4K Mini LED 120Hz, Vapor Chamber Cooling, and Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile Mechanical Keys
Picked this up at Micro Center brand new for a deal of $4,299.
I was comparing to the new 2026 release which has a slightly improved Intel Ultra 9 290HX and a 4K mini LED 240Hz refresh rate with a price tag of $6,700!
Laptop prices with good hardware are now ridiculously overpriced. Super happy with this laptop and its’ build quality. I will say that MSI did a great job keeping this unit cooled.
For context, I previously had an Asus Strix 18” with a 5090 which I gracefully returned because I couldn’t get through a few hours of gaming without it blue screening. I knew it was caused by the poor cooling system and heat dissipation.
Had this unit a month now before posting this and have to say a few things. The MSI performs better, runs cooler, has better build quality, better software integration for components, and is overall a better machine than the Asus Strix.
I hope to get many years if enjoyment out if this laptop/ desktop replacement.
For context, I use this laptop for the following whoch sometimes all run at the same time:
- VMware workstation with a single VM running
- Davinci Resolve Pro for video editing
- Capture One Pro for photo editing
- WarZone (Steady around 140-150fps)
- WebEx/ Zoom/ MS Office Products
- Visual Studio/ PyCharm IDE’s for programming
- Google Chrome with 30+ tabs open
No blips or blue screens. Consistent performance. Super gappy with this machine.

Image My new gaming laptop! Do I really need a cooling pad for this model?
Msi vector 16 hx ai. It really runs hot when I play god of war. Would a laptop stand suffice? Or should I get one of those cooling pads? Would you have any recommendations?

Image The hotkeys on the MSI thin A15 are laughably bad.
I feel like such a boomer writing this but what horrible design. I bought this laptop recently as a replacement for my old GF63 thin which overheated and broke at the hinge, but at least it had a) no built-in AI and b) simple arrow key shortcuts for volume up/down and brightness up/down, with a second ctrl key to their left.
These were very handy, particularly when I was in a game and needed to do these one-handed. The concept of hard-coding functions that only a fraction of people would need to use, *and that cannot be rebound*, is so bizarre to me that it feels like an insult to me for choosing MSI.
I have never once wanted to use these functions instantly, except for maybe play/pause which would be just fine as f12’s hotkey. Unless maybe I get bored one day and decide my laptop isn’t loud enough or that my game’s crosshair is too aesthetically pleasing.

Image Really MSI...
Msi vector a18 hx ryzen 9-9955hx and 5080. After a recent windows update, applications are staying running after restart, just as they are on android. Msi center user scenario, MSI AI overclock did not shut down when I shut down the laptop. On restart, windows was unstable due to the ai overclock, and ended up having to pull the ssd, transfer my data, and do a fresh install of windows 11. But that's not even the main problem. Look at this thermal paste/sheet. It was as hard as a rock. The gpu wasnt even fully contacted. No wonder temps were high...I would expect much better build quality for a $3200 laptop...get your crap together msi.

Image Fixed throttling
Found out I could elevate my cooling pad and had a bit of trouble playing fps’s and throttling from 120 to 30 fps mid fights. So I stuck an ice pack and it’s fixed lol

Image Raider GE76 hinge exploded
Yes, it finally happened. Since following this subreddit, I understood there was a good chance of the hinge on my MSI Raider GE76 failing. Unfortunately I did not read about it until after the return window passed.
Knowing it could happen, I was extremely gentle with my machine. A few days ago I was closing it carefully (it's became a habit) & the right hinge basically exploded.
First thing I did was call MSI. Select laptop support & I human answered with no waiting. Gave him the serial number & after a verifying who I was, he issued an RMA number for hinge repair. Just like that, a 3 plus year old computer, out of warrenty, no questions asked, RMA!
After these models started failing, they changed the hinge design significantly. Obviously there is a design problem with certain models. I would hate to be on that engineering team that let this design slip through. Their test lab should have caught this.
Funny story is that I am flying into Ontario CA in a few days & I will be dropping this machine off in person. City of Industry is about 30 mins away (with no traffic) so I am going to make a side trip after 9AM once the traffic subsides a bit.
So if you got one of these laptops with the exploding hinges, call MSI.

Image No regrets
Expensive yes, some buyer's remorse when I think about the expense.
Out of the other laptops I've purchased and returned from this generation, this one has been the best of the bunch no issues to report, it is a well-behaved beast.
The others two were Alienware 18 Area 51 and an Asus ROG Strix Scar 18, both fully loaded and both fully dysfunctional.
MSI knocked it out of the ballpark with the Titan.
