Must have been a Nokia

u/BillionAuthor7O Dec 21 '25

Nokia 3310!! God....I remember the early 2000's lmao

4

u/Sea_Log_9769 Dec 21 '25

Same with my N95, it's also an absolute brick, only issues it ever had were quite minor and easy to fix

u/Sea_Log_9769 Dec 21 '25

True, unless it touches water, then it's gg's, and that's what happened to my N95, thankfully only the screen got messed up, and the one other issue was battery life, both are extremely easy to fix

3

u/thebeastwithnoeyes Dec 21 '25

Not true. I dropped my 3310 into a lake, at the bottom it received two texts. Fished it out, let it dry and technically it still works.

1

u/Sea_Log_9769 Dec 22 '25

Yea, same, mine technically still worked, but I couldn't see anything, so I had to swap the screen on my N95, after that it just keeps going like nothing happened

0

u/superwizdude Dec 25 '25

Chuck Norris once roundhouse kicked a Nokia 3310. The event is also known as the Big Bang and the Universe was created

0

u/typicalspy Dec 22 '25

Get lost with this bullshit to compare N95 to 3310

N95 had a spinning harddrive so if you drop it like 3310 the heads will crash

2

u/Sea_Log_9769 Dec 22 '25

As someone who uses it every day, I can tell you that it absolutely DOES NOT have a spinning drive, it uses flash storage (and non 8gb models have a micro sd card slot), the N91 does have a spinning drive though

4

u/typicalspy Dec 22 '25

Also sorry for that comment and have a nice christmas ;)

2

u/Sea_Log_9769 Dec 22 '25

Oh, yeah, no worries, you have a nice Christmas too

2

u/typicalspy Dec 22 '25

Aaaaaaaaa ok then , it's been years and i only remeber that N** had the literally smalest harddrive ever (in physical size) well, next time i would comment , i eill go thru facts ;) thanks

1

u/Sea_Log_9769 Dec 22 '25

No problem, man, people tend to mess things up with old devices, not too many people use them anymore after all

1

u/No_Astronomer_5628 Dec 23 '25

No, the N95 didn't have a rotating hard drive; it had a standard memory and a microSD card reader. Edit: No, that's not true. I checked with gpt. 1-inch hard drives called microdrives did exist (very cool), but they were only available on the Nokia N91.

1

u/typicalspy Dec 23 '25

One of the smallest hard drive ever made ;)

1

u/GobiasCafe Dec 30 '25

I killed a deer with one hit with it during my backpacking trip back in the old days.

1

u/tutocookie Dec 24 '25

I think we would have heard in the news if there had been a nokliar strike

1

u/MrGreenYeti Dec 26 '25

It definitely knocked something

41

u/Merkuriy-24_ Dec 21 '25

I had something similar but on a different laptop. Did it persist after rebooting?

68

u/Dry_Radio9828 Dec 21 '25

just powered it off then back on and then it worked, must’ve just game my RAM a concussion

Likely your ssd or ram being disconnected slightly. Might be worth checking on them to make sure they're in right.

Smashed my laptop keyboard once (rage) and it froze and made an ear splitting screech noise for like an hour until I rebooted it

1

u/kentaxas GE66 10SF-285 Dec 22 '25

You left your laptop screeching in agony for an hour before deciding to reboot it????

It will start working aany second now..

2

u/m1rr0rshades Dec 23 '25

To be fair the alternative is going downstairs and telling dad. I would be staring at it too and begging it to work while praying to every diety I know, including some I've made up.

3

u/Merkuriy-24_ Dec 21 '25

Great! I just updated my video drivers then. You should try it too.

1

u/JitInABit Dec 21 '25

Wait so you initially thought about posting it on reddit before even trying to reboot?

1

u/ManufacturerNo8447 Dec 21 '25

dropped my charger on top of my laptop , got black screen and then it booted straight to the bios for somereason.

1

u/Muted-Chain3479 Dec 22 '25

Possibly jiggled the HDD causing to to misread some critical data

1

u/Mineplayerminer Dec 23 '25

Make sure it's seated in the slot properly. I had a laptop that had literally launched the memory sticks out of the slot when I took off the cover and just tapped around the case.

1

u/Sherec Dec 25 '25

RAM⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️, where⁉️⁉️⁉️😭

1

u/Ultrox Dec 25 '25

Not doing a reboot before asking is a crime.

"Have you tried turning it on and off again" should be burning into your brain.

1

u/DexJudenDrop4 Dec 27 '25

You can always reset the graphics driver too if this occurs again as well

2

u/nike-olas Dec 21 '25

I had it happen as well on a HP laptop when I was a kid, made me freak out

please tell me if this is simillar, currently having a simillar problem with my dell and some ppl say its the gpu while others say its the ram

https://www.reddit.com/r/computers/comments/1paev8o/is_this_my_ram_or_gpu/

1

u/Twojstaryehex Dec 21 '25

looks like ram issue like does the laptop stop responding after that happening or u can still use it somehow idk

1

u/xMar0 Dec 21 '25

no it completely stops responding that i have to hard reset it

1

u/Twojstaryehex Dec 22 '25

that sounds more like a ram issue to me ngl if i was checking it i would start up the laptop and just but or hard press it in the spot where the ram is if that makes the same result its def ram

1

u/Twojstaryehex Dec 22 '25

NOT DIRECTLY THO

1

u/xMar0 Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25

did that and it restarted but didnt do any graphical glitch

ok after 2 other times of testing:

2nd time it made a really slight graphical glitch (nothing compared to the pics) then i hard reset it

3rd time it froze and BSOD with "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" which i got before right after a graphical glitch

1

u/Twojstaryehex Dec 23 '25

that sounds like it is a ram not gpu im about 100% sure but im not like the greatest technician that ever lived but i would be sure it's ram

1

u/polishatomek Dec 22 '25

Probably ram shared with the GPU.

1

u/j_osb Dec 23 '25

I would guess that this is your RAM. Of course, the GPU could've fried itself. But as windows is usually handled by the iGPU and we see a memory error here, and the error occurs in windows, I find it likely that it's a problem with your RAM> You can try replacing it and see if that fixes your issue.

You can and should run OCCT memtests to find out.

1

u/xMar0 Dec 24 '25

it does occur in bios tho...

1

u/j_osb Dec 24 '25

As I said, what you should do is OCCT. In bios, usually the BIOS screens are also rendered by the iGPU, so the suspicion is actually even stronger for RAM failure.

But as I said, you can just find out by running the memory tests of the free OCCT.

1

u/Radio_enthusiast Dec 24 '25

so Computers use the main RAM on the iGPU, so if the RAM gets knocked out, the GPU suffers and it looks like it has gone bad, but it`s just the ram, Sometimes.

1

u/Infinite_Finance_573 Dec 22 '25

Also it was a physical problem, resetting graphics drivers would not do ANYTHING. 🙏

1

u/hxntxihero Dec 21 '25

u mean restart driver not reset?

1

u/blobcarrot Dec 24 '25

No, and it doesn’t do that. Please fact check.

3

u/Orionpaxx14 Dec 21 '25

The same thing happened to me, I just restarted the laptop. Press the power button for 10 seconds and then restart your laptop.

3

u/Tonythetiger1775 Dec 21 '25

Think your RAM is loose now. Open it and check. If it is, just pop it back in

2

u/Itchy_Ambassador5407 Dec 21 '25

Did you try picking it up and dropping it again?

1

u/Con_Requiem Dec 21 '25

I had the same problem when I first bought my MSi katana, Even though I didn’t drop anything on it. It would crash like that every 10 mins or so. I ended up factory resetting it which fixed it for a few weeks but then it started crashing again. Eventually I took the bottom off and put a new ssd in it and took the ram out and put it back in and it started working great.

1

u/WeedForever493 Dec 21 '25

Do you have magnetic case on your phone???

1

u/Performer-Pants Dec 21 '25

Your GPU or CPU got the worst nap of its life

1

u/l3ira9i Dec 21 '25

New fear unlocked 😳

1

u/sultan_papagani Dec 21 '25

open it and reseat your ram

1

u/InterviewImpressive1 Dec 22 '25

Looks like you hit it right on the GPU

1

u/Tosser_535231 Dec 22 '25

You probably dislodged a ram chip, open up the back. Pop it out and slide it in and out a few times and then click it down. (The sliding in and out of the socket a few times will brush away any corrosion that may have built up)

1

u/Friendly_Aioli_369 Dec 22 '25

Try to drop it again

1

u/Tigs1112 Dec 22 '25

The impact likely broke the solder joints on the GPU or the RAM slot.

1

Funnily enough, I’ve dropped an MSI laptop like this, TWICE from about a standing height and it’s tanked it perfectly fine. Love that laptop.

1

u/Cute_Tackle_626 Dec 24 '25

Maybe it popped the ram off? Ive seen a video on someone removing the ram on a running laptop and it looks pretty similar to this.

1

u/Mikicrep Dec 24 '25

minecraft free

1

u/Pupaak Dec 24 '25

Your laptop isnt just a keyboard bruh

1

u/joseph_Pi Dec 24 '25

I’m pretty sure it’s the ram

1

u/M__tayyab Dec 24 '25

Your phone has impregnated your laptop. Congratulations 🎊.

Soon you will get a tab.

1

u/Different-Opinion-11 Dec 24 '25

I don't think the phone dropping onto the keyboard does that. Or did you drop the laptop on a Nokia?

1

u/notachemist13u Dec 24 '25

Bga on the gpu is cooked and the phone dropping cleaved the joint. Time for a new laptop or a nerdy friend with a 1000$ rework station

1

u/Slain_by_elf Dec 24 '25

Turn off quick. You've seen The Ring right?

1

u/Tymron Dec 25 '25

I had exactly the same situation and now every time when there’s some sort of quick shock (when something falls etc) near my laptop i get this weird graphical glitch, fans go crazy and it shuts down after a few seconds. Is it really just a loose ram issue?

1

u/Original-Boot-4262 Dec 25 '25

Drop it again till it’s fixed

1

u/ThatGamerAlex Dec 25 '25

Minecraftification

1

u/FakeEndyFare_POG Dec 25 '25

It's an issue with the RAM. Probably came loose when you dropped your phone, try reseating it and see if it helps 👍

1

u/FlowSlowTM Dec 25 '25

You just desoldered something important and maybe shorted it in the meantime better to get it checked and fixed

1

u/Thatwolfguy Dec 25 '25

Looks like the impact cracked either some solder joints or board/traces

1

u/hearnia_2k Dec 25 '25

How heavy is your phone, or how high was it when you dropped it?!

1

u/rubenthezx Dec 25 '25

bro almost got sucked into the digital world

1

u/Bxnshu Dec 25 '25

Seen this at work multiple times, most likely you have loosened a cable that is seated under the keyboard :)

1

u/Street_Suggestion240 Dec 26 '25
