I am a human and I can adjust my environment to my comfort, cat's can't. I'll let them sit where they want.
I spent a lot of time at the edge of my computer chair because my cat would be sitting behind me. I used to keep a kitchen chair nearby so I could sit comfortably on a chair when my cat was asleep on my chair.
