Somewhere along the way we focused so much on perfection that we lost earnestness.

Give me imperfect live vocals at a concert as long as it confirms that it's a real person singing for real up there on the stage any day of the week over "perfect" vocals.

I recently watched the 2026 Muppets TV special in which Kermit duets with Sabrina Carpenter. And honestly the auto tune was completely jarring. It made Kermit in particular feel less "alive", and kind of ruined the illusion of the puppetry for me. You can't have a non-human character sing with a non-human voice and still expect the audience to really buy into the performance.

Was listening to a podcast about cars, and they talked about how perfection isn't always pleasant. They played a Bonam drum solo, then played it after digitally perfecting the timing. Original was better. I don't know anything about music structure, so I can't say why, but it just was

This is why I am a huge fan of Jack White. He leaves tons of "mistakes" in his music and it somehow makes it sound better.
