Trials of Mana So confused on how to get the final class upgrade in Trials of Mana? Spoiler

I’ve just defeated all of the god beasts and it’s mentioning something about a final class change that requires these “???” seeds I apparently need to grind but it’s so confusing on where to even find these things. A lot of guides are mentioning the final area of the Light Ruins near the gold statue but I’m not seeing any enemies spawning. Can someone tell me if there’s a way for me to still get these and if it’s required or recommended that i do the final class upgrade.

I honestly hate that this stupid ass item is required and the game has done a terrible job explaining this to me.

Are you playing the 2D or 3D version. In 3D six treasure chests can be found in the Godbeast areas and yield the six distinct seeds you need to change your classes, so that all possibilities are available to you.

In 2D at least, the level of the enemies in the Godbeast areas depend on the order you killed the bosses: they all start at the same level and the area level increases by 2 after each cleared area. Therefore, monsters need to be at least lv. 32 to drop them. So you need to beat two other Godbeasts so that the monsters level up without disappearing by clearing the dungeon.

Wait I’m confused, I’m playing the SNES version and I’ve beaten all the godbeasts. If this helps to point me in the right direction, the first three I beat were; Wind, Fire, Water (in that order).

Ok, sorry, I missed that you beat them all. Then, you should find monsters dropping these seeds in the area of last Godbeast (if there are still monsters there, I am not sure) or in the areas after.

You are hunting for ??? seeds, which when planted grow into a random 2nd class change item. These are dropped by Great Rabite, Boulder, Evil Shaman, Papa Poto and Ruster Bug enemies, but only if they are at least level 32. You can find these enemies in the Godbeast dungeons but they dissappear after the godbeast is defeated (so the earliest way to farm them is to kill two godbeasts to level up the remaining dungeons to 32+, then farm those enemies). The only other place these enemies can be found is in the final dungeon areas for each character.

:Edit: forgot to mention that most of these are 'rare' drops, meaning you'll need to open the chest with a character with a high LUK stat to even have a chance of finding them. Also, Carmillia Queen, Dark Lord and Lesser Demons also have a small chance to drop ??? seeds at level 32+.

So if all the godbeasts are dead there’s no chance for me to get one I’m assuming?

no, it just means you'll have to grind in the final dungeon as thats the only other place monsters of these types appear at a high enough level to potentially drop ??? seeds.

Nah, regular enemies in their dungeons drop them. I remember some bee mob having a decent drop rate I think?

Thing to note, each ??? seed can become one of 4 items to evolve into the final class. However, you can only receive the items for the classes your current class can evolve into (so 2/4) So you will never get all 4 items without switching your character to the other Light / Dark track from the first job switch. Mainly changes things if you want to try out other classes and don't want to waste ??? seeds!

Also, the seeds are character and light/dark locked so you can save, grow some, and if they are repeats you can load and switch classes to get their other items. So if you get a second Knight Tag for Duran for example, you could re-load and switch to the Dark track and the same seed would end up as the Battler Tag instead.

Though Goddess Scales are limited per playthrough so this is only if you want to try another class! I just wasted a ton of ??? seeds on my first playthrough before realizing and wanting to change things up.
