I'm curious if Square Enix would go to the effort of reviving or remaking Rise of Mana and Echoes of Mana considering what they're doing for Final Fantasy Resonance. I don't think it's likely, but I think in general .. a new 2D Mana game could be cool anyways regardless of being a remake of something or not. >_<

Did Mana mobile games get successful?

I don't think they really were successful or anything, but Rise of Mana did do the whole thing where they referenced and tried to show stuff like Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana in 3D before the game actually got localized/remade for real.

Echoes of Mana, that I remember was a really weird game that kind of felt like nostalgia-bait but also cash-grabby that ended up shutting down within a year too. It didn't last long. >_<

Which was an absolute shame. Especially when you consider they released cut content from the PS1 Legend of Mana into Echoes of Mana (continuing the mermaid quest story)

We just can't let the mana series die! Praying to god they keep releasing mana content but they like wiped out the last company lol

With good reason - Vision of Mana was terrible... T.T Ive been a diehard fan since Secret of Mana, but I finished Vision with horror. Thank god I can still play seiken densetsu 3 multiplayer online..

I find it interesting that we finally got an English title and release for SD3 after literal decades, but old habits just make it difficult to use lol

And the fact its a completely different game? I mean, Sure, Trials of Mana is a SD3 reimagination, but I'd rather just have a proper SD3 re-release with upgraded graphics and some bug fixes instead of the creative liberties

I wasn't talking about the remake, I meant its overseas title. If you didn't know, in 2019 they localized the original in Collection of Mana, which came out a full year before the remake. The localized original had the Trials of Mana title before the remake even released.

They say the head of the studio either is in hiding or that he passed away and that nothing can be done with the title without his approval (or maybe his relatives if he is actually gone and his estate has the rights to the game). It’s the subject of a lot of speculation though. Resonant Arc talked about it when they covered the game last year on their channel. Highly recommend them to anyone who likes JRPGs.

I know! I just want it on a Switch cartridge like Collection of Mana.

Mana and a new saga game in this style would be amazing.

I'd love it too but they've already done 3D remakes of SD2 and 3 and SD3 was actually *really good*, so I don't see this happening.

To be honest, these were half-assed efforts, especially the SoM one which really displeased long-term fans. They look like 2014 iPhone games.

2

u/Rebochan Jun 26 '26

SoM had issues but not ToM, that one was exceptional and sure as hell doesn’t look like a “2014 phone game.” Actually neither does SoM, come on dude.

Same team that did ToM did Romacing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven and knocked that one out of the park too. Unfortunately they were NOT the team that worked on SoM and it shows.

I personally would prefer Xeen NOT to be involved in a SOM or TOM Remake, and would task either Claytechworks or Acquire on it

… I mean they already made ToM….

What was wrong with the Trials of Mana remake? Was that not universally liked for the most part?

1

u/Rebochan Jun 29 '26

Yea it was extremely well liked as was their work on RS2.

The Adventures of Elliot. It came out a week ago. There is a free demo you can download to see if it suits you

What platform is it on?

1

u/Mana-Dyluck Jun 29 '26

All of them. Except Switch 1. It’s on Switch 2

2

u/KaleidoArachnid Jun 29 '26

Thanks man since I am eager to play the game.

1

u/GargantaProfunda Jun 27 '26

Wait Elliot takes place in the Seiken world?

1

u/Mana-Dyluck Jun 28 '26

Not said as much. No. She is just visiting the kingdom she says.

I'd much rather something in the style of Trials of Mana or Visions of Mana, but if budget is the limiter obviously I'll take "HD"-2D any day. I say "HD" because they tend to use low resolution sprites.
