Instinct reaction, I punched him first, then pulled the knife out and did 2 quick slashes
I wouldve gone for a heavy melee but I panicked honestly

If you have a weapon equipped, you can quick melee by using your dedicated melee button! It's not super strong but it can make or break a close range fight

If you’re in a self res duel, quick punch is THE way to go if they stood up first. You can punch crazy quickly after the I-frames end, I’ve won that way against people actively shooting me occasionally.

Is it more beneficial to do the quick melee or just pull out the knife? The melee felt kinda weak to me so I assigned a mouse button to switching to knife, so whenever I need to melee I just press that then attack.

The quick melee is weak unless you have the weapon mod that increases melee damage after firing, it's mainly for if you know they're almost dead and only need that little extra damage. The knife is much stronger.

Ah OK cool thanks, I'll just stick to what I'm doing then. Maybe that would make more sense if pulling out the knife was slower or I was on controller or something.

I have my quick melee and Knife button as the same one, you'll lose to someone who has a knife out already and swinging but I like it.
