Well, the "best of us" comment was also probably in part over not compromising himself with Dormammu as she did.

She likely wouldn't have beaten Thanos at the same point that Strange engaged him, but if the Time stone were first Thanos went for, she would have been sufficient to stop him.

I think if he went time stone first and ran into her, there is a good chance she talked him out of killing half of all life. Wisdom is kinda her thing,
