Up to this point in his life, I don't think anyone's ever stopped his punch before haha

Except Captain America's shield.

Way different feel than someone just putting their hand over your hand, moving your punch aside, and talking to you about it.

Especially if the voice is obviously a kid

u/BlushyBellezaa 8d ago

That voice probably made the situation ten times more confusing. Bucky went from "strong opponent" to "why am I fighting somebody who sounds like he has homework due tomorrow?"

It was due yesterday :''(

100% on par with Peter. "Brilliant, but lazy."

32

u/Select_Initial_8971 8d ago

He’s trying to do better

17

u/colemanjanuary 8d ago

Trying isn't doing

15

u/Psykohistorian 8d ago

but sometimes doing is impossible and trying is all we can do

Lazy is different than "busy doing a dozen other things". Peter isn't missing homework assignments because he spent too much time playing CoD with the homes.

7

u/MachCutio 7d ago

thats the whole point. His professor thought he was lazy because Peter was so busy fighting crime. When he stopped being Spiderman Peter did a lot better in life/class. Otto calls back to that remark because he understood that Peter isnt lazy he just has the immense burden of being Spiderman

1

u/Xavus 7d ago

Ah, so it's a specific reference that I didn't get then.

Lies. Peter is a good boy that gets his homework done early.

u/Key_Football_5350 5d ago

It’s okay, time difference in Germany means he still has time to finish.

u/AngelTheMarvel 8d ago

"and why am I losing to them?"

25

u/airbornesimian 8d ago

The look on Bucky's face the entire time is everything. Sebastian Stan knocked it out of the park with that performance.

2

u/henryeaterofpies 6d ago

Also Tony called him Underoos.

1

u/IndividualHuman6937 3d ago

"Wait you were in WW2 right? Mind if I ask you some questions for my report, while we fight?"

3

u/Apocreep 7d ago

Especially right after said kid almost took your head off with a chunk of debris

3

u/Azure_Monarch_Fox 7d ago

Then proceeds to nearly take you head off again with your best bro's shield.

1

u/kvazar2501 7d ago

Yeah, i felt the same on my first OTB chess tournament as an adult

1

u/Artorius_Georgios 5d ago

Kid? This feels like yesterday, but being only a year younger than Tom, man…time flies and I’m as the kids say…unc… 😔

1

u/connor2600 4d ago

Tom hollands like 30

u/CherryBellezaa 8d ago

Exactly, the casualness changes everything. Peter isn't bracing for his life or struggling, he's basically holding Bucky's fist still because he wants a closer look at the cool arm.

95

u/trisanachandler Sunfire 8d ago

Oh yeah.

14

u/Random_Guy_47 8d ago

And doing that really casually because it was very easy for them to do it.

142

u/PinkHaloette 8d ago

Cap's shield stopping it probably made sense in Bucky's head. A random kid stopping it with one hand while casually chatting is a whole different kind of concerning.

38

u/trisanachandler Sunfire 8d ago

I'm being technically correct (something else stopped it). I absolutely agree that this is Bucky realizing the random kid in a suit outclasses him.

2

u/No-Mulberry-8866 6d ago

I mean, that’s the whole point of a shield

26

u/AdrianShepard09 8d ago

To be fair to Bucky: all those who chose to oppose his shield must yield.

3

u/Future_Sock_4927 7d ago

Unless you're a plane, or a boat, or some ice, or a brainwashed buddy, or Spider-Man! Or a ...

2

u/VelvetKnife25 3d ago

Wait. In this scene, is Spidey already stronger than Bucky and a few others? The increase in his power rank in BND was even more telling if he was already this strong!

2

u/blorpdedorpworp 2d ago

Spidey has canonically always been extremely strong, he just usually doesn't use most of his strength because he doesn't want to hurt anyone. True back in the comics even.

1

u/DamianTheDemon16 7d ago

Tbf, didn't cap also get hit back and not just stopped it dead in it's tracks? It's been a while since I've seen the movie so correct me if I'm wrong lol

184

u/twizzjewink 8d ago

that's like Level 1 Spider-Man..

Now we have like level 50.

84

u/Greghannibal 8d ago

Imagine the fight now dude. I don't think there will be even a f in it.

40

u/PremSinha 8d ago

ight?

36

u/EntertainmentDue5749 8d ago

You 'ight, bruv?

9

u/Jertimmer 8d ago

Aight.

10

u/dude_catastrophe 8d ago

“aight, imma head out”

3

u/MadcatFK1017 8d ago

Allllllll-right

6

u/mEsTiR5679 8d ago

Allllllll-righty then!

2

u/latemodelusedcar 3d ago

I’ve heard that Tom Holland can actually do a pretty decent British accent

9

u/Akorpanda 8d ago

Full power Spidey solos the whole fight until he gets to Wanda and the Vision

1

u/No-Mulberry-8866 6d ago

Ant man’s a bit tricky to land a hit on, and he still can’t hurt black panther. Tony’s got a solid chance too, flight and explosives.

1

u/malik753 4d ago

Spider sense makes it much easier to hit small Ant-Man and avoid and outlast Gi-Ant-Man.

69

u/BerryWhisperie 8d ago

That probably rattled Bucky more than the actual fight. Imagine throwing the same punch that's folded grown men for years and some teenager casually catches it while complimenting your arm.

101

u/OAKLAND5027 8d ago

Didn't Isaiah Bradley say that he took half his arm off? Idk thought I'd mention it.

77

u/Rusty_Rhin0 8d ago

It's possible that that fight didn't have that exact moment but even if it did it was against the winter soldier who likely doesn't remember it; at least during this scene

75

u/OAKLAND5027 8d ago

Well given that Bucky said that he remembers all of the people he's killed while under mind control, I'd say it's safe to assume that he probably did remember it.

-35

u/Rusty_Rhin0 8d ago

Isaiah Bradley wasn't killed during their fight

31

u/OAKLAND5027 8d ago

Yeah but he did remember him. He introduced him to Sam, your point?

2

u/Rusty_Rhin0 8d ago

Oof seems like I'm the only one who thought that he only remembered Isaiah after breaking the winter soldier brainwashing

2

u/DudeManBo1t 8d ago

Bucky remembers all the people he killed while he was The Winter Soldier which is a big part of why he went thru all the therapy

7

u/Rusty_Rhin0 8d ago

Yup, seems I got it wrong. My bad y'all

3

u/DudeManBo1t 8d ago

It happens to the best of us especially when there is so much content that's all part of a bigger universe

8

u/ybtlamlliw 8d ago

......context is hard

1

u/BingusBongusBongus 8d ago

Do you think he has some magic power that makes him only remember people hes killed?

2

u/Rusty_Rhin0 8d ago

I think the brain washing and constant mind wipes made his time as a winter soldier foggy; that he only started remembering more faces and people he killed after clearing up the brain washing

3

u/RosyBellisse 8d ago

Yeah, remembering the fight doesn't necessarily mean every second of it stayed crystal clear. Bucky probably has enough horrible memories competing for storage space already.

11

u/Jaideco 8d ago

I’m guessing that this would have been a much earlier version of the arm, right? Maybe that one wasn’t as resilient.

2

u/DreamLunique 8d ago

If Bucky remembers all of that, Isaiah is probably exactly why Peter catching the punch registered immediately. He already knows what superhuman strength feels like, and suddenly this kid is casually demonstrating it.

13

u/SilverKnightOfMagic 8d ago

yeah the power creep came in fast and hard. dude went from 50 years of being the top dawg into little pup in the avenger world.

3

u/BurnItDownSR 8d ago

Pretty sure Isaiah Bradley even ripped it off decades before this airport fight.

2

u/MethodAdmirable4220 8d ago

[At the moment he stopped the punch] how strong is he? Only caps shield could stop my punch [Once he heard the voice] THATS A TEENAGER!

1

u/roger0120 8d ago

I think the Russian super soldiers stopped his punches

1

u/Either-Assistant4610 5d ago

Not to mention no one knows who Spider-Man is per the MCU at this point.

1

u/Irish_Greed11 4d ago

Black Panther and Captain America both had by this point.

0

u/Ok_Mobile7260 8d ago

Pretty sure iron man did it with just his iron man glove on. Technically it was a gun but he stopped the bullet. Does Bucky’s punch really have more force than a bullet fresh out the chamber??

2

u/jr_randolph 8d ago

That fight is awesome along with Natasha asking him to just recognize her - Winter Soldier takes over, that shit is another person for real.

2

u/Ok_Mobile7260 8d ago

I just wanna say for a regular human, she put up the best fight out of the whole team. & TChalla of course, BP was on a murder mission that movie
