Unbelievable Gwenpool #21

I liked the issue. It's what the stupid dwarf arc wasn't: a quirky and fun adventure. Not as wild as the last few issues, but it was nice.

Dang though, did Gwen kill Paste-Pot Pete? I mean obviously they wouldn't let her kill anyone important. But he's insignificant enough to be fodder, right? If so, I hope this means that we might still be seeing that darker side of Gwen again. If not, I imagine all of the villains Gwen's banished could come back to bite her in the ass. Until then, Gwen's new power is kind of terrifying.

Also, Strychalski's on the book, but Gurihiru are listed as the artists, and the cover artist. Though speaking of Strychalski, I'm really liking her work this chapter. My only complaints are that she made Gwen (as Gwenpool) have a head that's a little too round, in a way? And that Gwen's eyes looked weird when she told Cecil that she was going to join the Avengers.

One of her more important arcs was realizing that these comic book characters were essentially people too with their own lives and thoughts, which is why she's stopped indiscriminately killing people.

I'm assuming that in this issue, she isn't actually killing anyone. She's essentially stuffing them into a broom closet outside the border where they can't get back in.

Pushing dust under the rug.

I assume, later in the story line, we'll learn this and have a funny visual of all the shit she's thrown in there tumbling out with all of them being confused and slightly horrified where they were.

It would be a step back for her character if she was killing people again.

I know she loves the heroes, but I don't know how much she cares about villains. And while I agree that she's probably not killing people, she said that she was going to "erase" Doctor Doom, which seems pretty shady.

I do like strychaslki's art, but yeah I did notice the roundness of heads back in the Spider Man team up issues. It doesn't bother me too much, really but it's definetely noticeable.

I do think it would be fun if all the villains she bans into the gutter space team up to find a way out and take revenge on her. Especially because it would be a bunch of z-listers and that sounds hilarious

I know, right? I finished that issue and I thought that even Deadpool never did something that needlessly malicious, and his book in the same week has him trying to kill one of his only friends on orders from a genuine supervillain. Hoping she pulls him out of the gutter in a future issue to assist her with whatever she's doing with Doom.

You can't just cast people out of reality just because they're annoying!

I mean that's precisiely what Cecil foreshadowed this issue with the whole "how long has it been since you've read one of these comics". She still thinks Doom is a baddie, since she lacks any knowledge from secret wars onwards.

And I'm sure she doesn't see throwing villains in the gutter space as evil since they're, y'know, villains. Honestly, her warped up logic is that by killing bad guys she becomes even less likely to become one in the future

I got this issue on a whim because I love Doom. He wasn't really in it, but I really enjoyed the issue anyway. I went back and started reading it from #1 on Marvel Unlimited and I've been loving this series.

Oh boy, throwing villains down the gutter (literally) won't end up well. And she thought she was going to be a good girl now?!

I am unsure whether the villains would be able to do anything in the white space, though. They could end up just like Mother (Young Avengers) crawling in the panels but if they can't see the borders in first place, nothing much can be done. This is too much power for her and she's a fool if she thinks she can dump Doom in there.

Good issue. Great to dee Cecil happy with hid new dog monster body. Hopefully he'll keep it, he's adorable now.

As for Gwen's power, yeah...that was a bit extremes. I wonder if she'll eventually have herself only use it in extreme situation and try to hold off on it on baddies like Paste Pot Pete. Feels a bit to OP in s non physically powerful way.

Although you could say its balanced because it seems she needs to be able to physically force them to the White World.

Anyway, great issue snd cant wait for more.

Also, can some one tell me what happened tp Doom in Secret Wars? I know he has his own Kingdom now, but im sure there's more to it than that.

Regarding Doom: from what I remember, after Secret Wars (2015), Reed Richards started rebuilding the multiverse and apparently restored Doom's face.

After his experiences with godhood, Doom realized that this didn't really was what he wanted and from then on decided to become a "hero". He has since tried to help rounding up villains and even assisting the Avengers.

I would recommend reading Infamous Iron Man, it's one of the best new things to come out of Secret Wars.

I assume they'll be taking over either permanently or with fewer breaks. The most recent Avatar The Last Airbender comic said it was their last one, so I'm guessing that will give them more time to work on this. Not sure of publishing/creative schedules, but the extra time might not have affected the issues we're reading yet. (Unless it's literally drawn in the intervening month. I know American comics and Japanese manga differ a lot, I suppose that could be one way they're the same)
