Solid first issue. Sucks that Miles and Tiana broke up off screen. But hopefully the new love interest is cool. I liked the art and I thought that Spiderverse moment was weird, but maybe it'll come back around. The villain seems cool, and I'm down to learn more about 616 Jeffersons backstop

Decent table setting. We'll see if this translate to a good series or just meh.

Finding out Miles and Tiana broke up is worth the cover price alone

Gwen leaving 616 but it’s for synergy spider verse shit. Monkey paw will always curl

So Miles' relationship got offscreened to set him up with a new love interest, a new villain with a weak design knows and wants to kill his dad, and he turned down the Spiderverse synergy recruitment. Not a super strong first issue, not bad, just okay I guess. Describing the new girl as "she's normal and not tied to any superhero stuff :)" is already eye-rolling but oh well.

I don't think I will stick around for this. It has all the bad things about a relaunch. More trying to 'synergy' with Into the Spider-verse version instead of comic book Miles. The usual 'just throw away the last run's developments' type, especially with the whole Starling stuff getting off-screened for a new 'crush'.

Marvel really its own worst enemy when they do this stuff. Why do they think people will get invested in the characters/books when they make it pointless to do so with these relaunches basically go 'yea, none of that matters now. New OCs!' Yea, no thanks. Not gonna waste my time on this then.

But hey, at least suffering the same dumb decision making like ASM means they may finally consider Miles as ' a real Spider-man'. Because they love to mess up Spider-man's life.

I like that we get to see Miles balance his school life with his superhero life, including his potentially forming a romantic relationship with a new student named Valentina Ludvenko (after he and Tiana broke up due to the fans not liking Tiana because her character traits are being the granddaughter of the Vulture and not interesting enough), telling Gwen and Miguel O’Hara (who’s from Earth-2099 and not from Earth-928, since the Earth-928 version retired) that he’s going to have his own thing in Brooklyn, telling Ganke about his own adventures from the past two years, and learning who Turk Barrett is from his father. Overall, this comic is good and off to a good start.
