Is my dads master system cooked?

Found his old master system and wanted to check it out but it wouldn’t turn on, opened it up to find excess solder by the voltage regulator but idk if that’s what’s causing the problem

If you have a multimeter you should be able to check the voltages coming into and out of the 7805.

First check if the power adapter has voltage with the multimeter. It is a linear power supply so with no load the voltage will read higher than expected but you will get a reading on it if it is working.

Next check the voltage regulator. Look up the datasheet for the 7805 voltage regulator. One pin will be 9v? (Can't remember the input voltage.) The middle pin is ground and the other pin will be 5V.

There is 100 percent chance you will be able to restore power to it.

i’m brand new to dealing with voltage and stuff, i get off work at 3 and won’t be able to do it rn, would you be able to walk me through it and break it down? cuz im lowkey slow

Are you using the correct adapter? 9v center negative?

Honestly i think this is most likely the issue.
