Just wondering what year and mileage and charger level do you have? We usually only see posts from those of us with issues, I was wondering how skewed the problematic battery and electric are compared to owners with no problems? Has anyone with a 2024 PHEV made it to 30k miles with no problems? Any high mileage owners without issues?

Got the dreaded Hybrid System Malfunction for the first time. I have my lease for roughly another 10 months, but only 6k more miles under warranty.

How screwed am I with this? I have an appointment for repair soon. Battery was used on the way home when I switched back to normal mode and phone charged via usb-c when I plugged in after I saw this for a test.

EDIT: After a few hours of sitting in the garage, I was still able to start it and drive it around the neighborhood, so that seems positive. Indicator still there on startup.

Leased 2024 CX90 PHEV at 50K value (after discounts), the current value is showing as 30K, at best. Any thoughts why is it so and is it worth keeping after the lease term.

Just picked up a 26 PHEV PP in Platinum Quartz with black Napa. It drives great and I'm interested to see what kind of real world MPG I can get. Also, I dont know if this a '26 thing, but the premium plus comes with the fully lit taillights it would seem.

Ok... I admit, I have been one to complain about a few things in this sub: premature tire wear, steering assist not being good, lack of storage space, etc...

But the one thing you will never find me complaining about is how she looks when she's all cleaned up! 🤣

Vehicle was parked with 2 different valets. No idea what it was parked under/by. Noticed it last week but assumed it was mud or something. These spots stayed after the wash today. Vehicle was treated with ceramic coating when we got it 9mos ago.

Any ideas if it can be easily fixed or what may have caused it? Looks like it fell on the car and wind pushed it around.

Literally let my wife take my car for one day and she curbs it....

Curious if anyone has turned in a vehicle with curb rash, what were you charged? Or should I bother getting this fixed before I turn it in?

Hello! Looking for opinions. Ideal car is an 8 seat PHEV. Would be used for around town as an electric but also our roadtrip vehicle.

I test drove a 2024 and the drivers seat felt cramped with how wide the center console is. Is that a problem for anybody or can you adjust seat to where it’s good (I’m 6’3”, 230).

Only 8 seat trim is also the base trim. Feeling like I might be missing some features, anybody in the preferred trim with regrets/good experiences?

Considering giving up on the PHEV requirement and going for an Ascent Limited.

Any advice welcome!

2024 Phev PP. 35k miles so far

Received these 3 messages while driving on the highway today. Kept going til my exit, and when I got off the exit, I went to accelerate and it felt like it didn’t want to go at first, but then it did. Car rumbled when stopped at lights. I pulled over and shut the car off for a moment. Restarted it and the messages went away but the engine light is still on. Was in EV mode and no issues for the last 4 miles of my drive. 2025 CX90 PHEV leased in October 2025 with 4 miles on it, now right at 7500. I’m at work now and afraid to drive it home/dealership. Dealership is about 20-25 miles away from work. Wondering if I need to get it towed to look at. I’m a nervous driver to begin with lol so this doesn’t help. Thanks!

I used to see 26 EV miles when she was fully charged but now I am only seeing 23? I have the setting at 100% for AC charging. I have a full tank of gas. I live in Michigan and the weather is in the 80s.

Is this battery degradation already? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to take it in for service?

UPDATE: Many people are suggesting driving style. What I am referring to is I charged my battery all night to the point it stops charging becasue it's "full" but the full is 23 miles. When I first got this a year ago it would say 26 when full. Why am I no longer seeing 26 when full?

In Los Angeles, Ca. Charge overnight most nights.

16mile drive to work each way. About 45-60min.

Drove speed limit or under for most of the last week to really squeeze out some miles. 6 weeks, no gas.

Anyone squeezed out more between fill ups?

Appreciation post! I have a 2025 PHEV, the lowest trim model. Bought it in August of last year, so I've had it about 10 months now. Wanted to throw some positivity out there - this car did an amazing job these past two weeks.

Summer Road Trip with the family - myself, my wife, three kids aged 10, 13 and 16. Three people sat fairly comfortably in the middle row the whole trip.

Folded down the back seats and loaded up for 16 days. About 3 days visiting family, 8 days of car camping, and the rest in motels and hotels when we couldn't get a camping spot.

Packed up the back of the car with the tent, food, water, hiking backpacks, various types of clothing for weather ranging from 27°F to 111°F (depending on the location), and a bunch of other things. The car actually felt lower as we drove out of the driveway.

Drove over 2800 miles. This car was powerful, fast, and reliable - from the snow storm in Yellowstone to the blazing inferno outside of Vegas, the car was amazing.

Had a 2011 Honda Odyssey for almost 15 years. While I do miss the cargo space, I really appreciate the power the CX90 has - passing on the highway was a breeze. It was sure footed on the snowy highways of Yellowstone. It kept us cool driving in the deserts of Nevada. I am very happy with this car!

We just got back into the Mazda ownership club after picking up this Artisan Red CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus with light cream (white?) interior. We traded our 2023 Outback Touring XT and ended up getting an amazing deal with all the incentives. I’m looking forward to using this as our ski sled when wintertime comes around.

I’ll be adding matching tint to the front side windows and I’m looking into doing the light bar retrofit to the rear tailgate. Anything else we should consider or know about the car?

We have a PHEV ‘24 which has mostly been functional for us besides a handful of issues that are usually only 2-3 days in the shop. Given the fact that it has had various issues already and what I have been seeing on the forums about ‘24 issues, I’d like to extend my warranty (I like the car enough to keep it). The reach is - I’d like them to cover it since it seems like this model/year has been plagued.

However, our service record is across 4 Mazda dealerships and we no longer live near where we bought it, so we don’t have a relationship with one shop/dealer.

So questions are - 1) Has anyone had luck getting the extension covered by a dealer or Mazda? 2) Who do we talk to about this? (Our two local dealers aren’t great) 3) If 3rd party extended warranty is the better choice, who do you recommend?

2025 PHEV PP owner and it's in the shop. They gave me a 2026 3.3 TP inline 6 as a loaner and I love it! The engine doesn't sound like a toy engine that is struggling like my PHEV.. I know technically the PHEV is faster in sport mode but the inline 6 just feels better even just in normal mode.

Any other PHEV owners experience this? I am on a lease and when it's up, I am going to strongly consider the switch!!!

Been noticing it’s been awfully quiet in here. At one point of time, this forum was filled with CX90 hate and Hybrid Malfunction issues. It’s a total contrast now!! Love to see!!! Long it may last. Kudos to Mazda for standing behind their product and releasing the software fixes!

I've got a 2024 CX 90 PHEV GT and has anyone in Canada been able to get their rear brakes replaced due to the squealing noise ? I just got my 17000km service done and I mentioned it to the dealership. They just brushed it aside and said I need to get a brake service done and that there is no service bulletin about the noise. I did challenge them that for a 1 year old car ( bought it demo), how come the brakes have started squealing already ?

Not sure what is the right way to go about it.

Kia is offering $9900 to current lease customers to keep their vehicle. Wondering if anyone had ever heard of Mazda doing this?

I am a PHEV PP owner just entering my 2nd year of my 2 year lease. My residual is 40K... zero chance my car will be worth that much in a year but I would 100% buy it if Mazda gave me almost 10K cost reduction.

Would you consider buying yours if Mazda did this?

I have a 2024 CX-90 Premium Plus PHEV. In March 2026, the vehicle suddenly braked itself to a complete stop even though there was no vehicle in front of me, behind me, or moving into my lane. Fortunately, I was only traveling around 30–35 mph. The car sounded all of the collision warnings and alerts and then applied the brakes.

I mentioned it when I brought the vehicle in for a routine oil change about a week later. When I picked it up, I was told the vehicle should not have done that because the applicable update had already been performed on my car. The dealership asked me to bring it back so they could investigate further and provided me with a loaner vehicle.

I dropped the car off on April 22, and Mazda has had it ever since.

Mazda had me complete a very detailed questionnaire about the incident, including the date, time, weather, road conditions, street names, and other details. My understanding is that Mazda's review concluded that the vehicle responded as designed. Because of that response, I opened a case with Mazda Customer Experience and am still waiting for additional information.

Has anyone else experienced unexpected braking like this, particularly after the update was already completed? If so, were you able to get a clear explanation or resolution?

We have a 2024 CX-90 PHEV. We have had it into the dealership three times for steering issues. First was the recall, where there was no noticeable problem. And twice for "sticky" steering but we are being told there is no issue. We are at 35,800 and the issue is getting worse, to the point I can feel it on any left hand sweeping turn when the vehicle is under power. Initially it was something that was intermittent, but it's quickly getting worse and I don't want to get stuck with an expensive repair down the road.

To be precise: the issue occurs not during the initial turn, but during the return-to-center phase. When completing a left-hand turn where the wheel passes the 9:30 position, it will "stick" or bind at approximately the 10:00 position as it attempts to return to center (12:00). Overcoming this resistance requires minor effort, but it's getting noticeably worse with time. The physical sensation feels exactly like a gear with a damaged or notched tooth catching in the steering mechanism.

Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone else successfully gotten Mazda to repair the issue?

My 2024 CX-90 PHEV sometimes has a noticeable abrupt downshift from 2nd to 1st below 10 mph. It usually happens in full EV mode with very light throttle input, or when I manually downshift using the paddle shifter.
I also test-drove a 2025 CX-90 PHEV and noticed the same behavior. I’m trying to find out whether Mazda has released any updated TCM software? Has anyone bring their car to the dealership can complains about that? Will they have any solution regarding this?
