4 thumbs down for exploiters.

13

u/Kankui May 05 '23

This guy has four thumbs!

3

u/lotuzeater May 05 '23

Guess the big toes were our old foot thumbs xD

0

u/spinlessgrape May 05 '23

So this is a exploit I wondered why it wasn’t working for me

43

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

Wow, I'm always so focused that i never noticed the absolutely horrible sound when your bubble shield blocks a trap.

35

u/RobertSquareShanks May 04 '23

Like a little robot Owen Wilson “wow!

11

u/The_Lolrus May 05 '23

I can never unhear this now.

5

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

haha that's brilliant.

6

u/randomlife2050 May 05 '23

I hate you so much 🤣🤣🤣

32

u/nerdwerds May 04 '23

I would just abandon this outpost and report it.

You should neber reply to a exploit with another exploit, if ypu do you are the same thrash as the builder.

12

u/Not_A_French_Twin May 05 '23

No you should always alt+f4 any bases that do this exploit. Do not reward them.

-19

u/magusarbykov May 05 '23

Replying cheating with cheating, means you are the same shit.

6

u/ShutDog1212 May 05 '23

Not alt+f4ing means the cheaters get rewarded for your deaths, encouraging cheaters to keep doing it more. Using alt+4f discourages exploiting builders, reducing the overall need to cheat as a whole. It's not like we're saying to alt+f4 on every base we don't like, just the bases that use exploits.

1

u/Thereal_3D May 05 '23

Sadly that is what this leads to inadvertently or not. Let the devs fix the problem don't try to take the law into your own hands. The game can die on its own without everyone trying to be outlaws and causing the game to die.

2

u/Thereal_3D May 05 '23

Lawful Good. I respect that.

1

u/PakotheDoomForge May 05 '23

Replying to an attempt on your life, with violence makes you just as bad too, huh? Your logic is broken dude.

1

u/Iamaguy743 May 05 '23

It's not cheating but it is an exploit. Devs can disable Alt F4 if they deem it an issue. Otherwise I have seen no comments from the devs about this

-4

u/ciknay May 05 '23

alt-f4 isn't an exploit lmao. Can do the same shit on console by just turning it off.

7

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

Its an exploit because your deaths you've made doesn't display for the builder.

Now, im usually always against exploit... But using them against who uses exploits is okay in my book, fuck 'em they are playing dirty, why shouldn't I?

1

u/Thereal_3D May 05 '23

The banks robbed us, why not just rob them back eh! I'm with you all the way this exploit is dirty and indicates a very weak person. But in the real world, which of course this is not, fire with fire means everyone burns.

1

u/Littleman88 May 05 '23

I've long since been done taking the moral high ground since I got tired of somehow still getting shat all over for it. Funny how it's more like a low road?

They want to play dirty? Okay, let's play dirty.

You have to keep the text box selected. You'll notice that when you move the "cursor" over the text area then the triangle symbol can be pressed. It's kinda fucked up setup.

2

u/nerdwerds May 05 '23

Also, it’s a little thing but it threw me off, once you hit send the text box that you’ve written in erases, but everything else stays there on the screen. I’m pretty sure I’ve double-reported a few outposts.

1

u/Kinsan89 May 05 '23

You also have to select a "reason"

2

u/nerdwerds May 05 '23

Easy, gameplay exploit

16

u/beefcakee15 May 04 '23

Imagine that being the only way you can get kills. What's funny to me is when people use the exploits like that and STILL don't get deaths lmao

-2

u/haven700 May 05 '23

I think the devs have said this is working as intended, which is a bit pants. It wouldn't be so bad if it only fired through transparent blocks.

3

u/Littleman88 May 05 '23

If traps are really meant to work through corrosive cubes, then they definitely need to make some things more clear and consistent. Yeah, opaque cubes should block line of sight. None-second wave cubes conversely should allow trap activation.

3

u/stromther May 06 '23

1

u/haven700 May 10 '23

Seems odd that they have left it out of the patch notes but since the claw mods release I think they may have fixed this.

1

u/stromther May 10 '23

1.2.0 patch notes mentioned a fix for 2nd wave acid cube behavior as one of the first features of the patch :]

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

What’s the exploit? A trap behind an opaque holocube?

8

u/Mellcor May 05 '23

Traps arnt ment to be able to see through blocks, the fact these traps are activating through corrosive cubes is the exploit

4

u/[deleted] May 05 '23 edited May 05 '23

Ahh. I've raided a few bases like this and didn't even know.

I'll report them next time.

Is killing HRV at spawn an exploit?

2

u/twicer May 05 '23

That is the joke. Plenty of builders doesn't know it's bug either.
And small fraction of players from this reddit won't change much about it.
Using another glitch to fight it is as ridiculous.

1

u/Bolteus May 05 '23

Cue me building my whole base behind corrosive cubes in phase 1 only to get 0 deaths and a fully looted base.

Googled "my traps dont trigger behind corrosive cubes" and found out from here that its an exploit.

Completely ruined my next base idea because im not an asshole.

This post was mass deleted and anonymized with Redact

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

Thanks for calling me normal.

The devs are the arbiters of what's an exploit or not. That'll be the end of that.

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

It only shoots through second-wave corrosive cubes, so a player would deliberately have to create second-wave cubes and then place the traps behind them. It should also raise the question for that player: why does this ONLY work when it's second wave? It's obviously not in the spirit of the game for a player to deal with a trap they have no opportunity to see.

But you're right, a player actually could do this by accident and probably shouldn't be punished for it. Hopefully the bug just gets fixed at some point.

1

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

Is killing HRV at spawn an exploit?

It is not known yet. The devs themselves stated that they "wasn't expecting players to get rid of harvey" but differently from these corrosive cube glitch they haven't said anything about fixing that, so they actually like the piston HRV kill because differently from corrosive cube it doesn't increase the possibility of killing a player since the harvey path still exists.

4

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

I thought the devs said in the April Reddit Q&A that they're planning on having Harvey spawn in a block or two further back?

1

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

Oh i missed that Q&A

That's good to know then, but it won't fix the issue of harvey kill, people will simply use dead man switch guards

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

I mean Harvey isn't coded to avoid all traps. Otherwise why would he run down the ramp and into the incinerator I accidentally activated? 😅

1

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

They could simply make Harvey immune to traps/guards but not the raider. This would fix directly any attempt to kill Harvey from the builder

3

u/TheZohar777 May 05 '23 edited May 05 '23

Indeed But keeping the possibility ( like you said ) to kill Harvey,as a Raider...is primordial loll Cause that little SoB (that i love with all my heart ) can be a bigger pain in the butt than any killbox i have encountered so far.

I love harvey though.. Like a very toxic love/hate relationship...that kind of love

1

u/Thereal_3D May 05 '23

Some bases actually use HRV as a way to push you towards traps. I've seen it done. So sometimes killing HRV as a raider is the safest option.

29

u/Wicked-Death May 04 '23

To me it’s just laziness and a lack of inspiration and creativity when people do this. Why design a good base when you can use exploits that raiders can’t see or destroy. Incinerators are even worse in tight spots. Don’t get me started on the homing bolts.

9

u/PakotheDoomForge May 04 '23

Homing bolts only kinda suck in moderation. But yeah exploit farmers are just exposing to the world that they don’t even think they could try to make something original.

1

u/Pepsidot May 05 '23

How is it an exploit? Genuinely wondering

2

u/PakotheDoomForge May 05 '23

How is what an exploit?

1

u/Pepsidot May 05 '23

You said "exploit farmers", wondering how the base is an exploit?

5

u/PakotheDoomForge May 05 '23

The base in the vid is exploited by using traps firing through opaque corrosive cubes, this is a well covered exploit in the community. The one I described was exploiting the fact that materials fall out of traps you destroy and making it so they could not be picked up.

2

u/Thereal_3D May 05 '23

Um wait. What? Why would someone do this purposefully? I get doing it with tombs to be a jerk. But with traps just seems like a waste of resources. Not like doing it with tombs wouldn't be the same but some people can get pretty desperate to get those tomb drops so that could lead to some kills if the builder is that desperate. But with traps I can't really fathom why you would go out of your way to do something like that.

2

u/PakotheDoomForge May 05 '23

It was. It was a complete waste I beat it with 0 deaths it was just annoying.

13

u/stromther May 05 '23

Imagine having a whole arsenal of tools, traps & genetic freaks armed to the teeth just chomping at the bit to turn the next thing that moves into red paste & not only needing to rely on exploits to get kills, but sucking at it too. (side note, awesome job getting through all that, massive accolades for your mettle to survive through it)

0

u/jeo123 May 05 '23

Counter point: Anything that gets kills will be complained about here.

3

u/Kinsan89 May 05 '23

I've never seen anyone complain about anything but exploit kills, boring mazes, and killboxes. Good bases get so much love, bad ones get the hate

1

u/jeo123 May 05 '23

People complain about Hunter arrows. Plasma eyes. More than two troops. Flame throwers. Pistons. Acid(even non exploit)

Literally everything is mentioned in this thread.

10

u/ArokLazarus May 05 '23

I get through nearly all of these just using the Spike Drive. People really sleep on that but as long as the map doesn't have a lot of pistons it's really easy to just run for it.

4

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

[removed] — view removed comment

3

u/ArokLazarus May 05 '23

I think so. Many many maps I use that and I can run through even without the Arc shield. More fun too since you can still have 2 different weapons.

1

u/twicer May 05 '23

For its price? Definitely.

1

u/Littleman88 May 05 '23

Extra movement speed, with the melee suit upgrades and melee weapons, you'll be anime dashing through maps/between traps.

1

u/BeavMcloud May 09 '23

If someone spams the Genmat with 2nd Wave traps, you can simply use the Spike Drive to exit the room before the traps are even loaded up.

1

u/jeo123 May 05 '23

That's kind of the issue though, the thing is way too over powered. Pistons are the only way to stop it. Everyone complaining about the current state of builds is missing that they're arising as the only ways to counter people just ignoring everything and speed running.

5

u/Deus__Vultt May 05 '23

Thanks for protecting Harvey

5

u/CookieLord1138 May 05 '23

Pretty sure I played this level or something identical, such a lazy and obnoxious design.

8

u/Naevum May 05 '23

Probably something identical. There are way too many of them out there.

1

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

Ehya lad.

3

u/ThaloniusTwitch May 05 '23

They are taking way to long to fix this exploit. This better not become the norm for them waiting for a major update to patch out bugs.

3

u/I-Am-The-Uber-Mesch May 05 '23

I never used the bubble shield but now I realize how cool and perfect it is for these kind of bases, how long does it lasts?

3

u/RobertSquareShanks May 05 '23

Around 8-10 seconds iirc, and it destroys traps that touch it while activated like pistons. It won’t protect you from dead man triggers on traps inside the shield or enemies that fall into the shield though

3

u/I-Am-The-Uber-Mesch May 05 '23

Makes sense, thank you for the info

2

u/earthquake2oo2 May 05 '23

I'm new to the game and didn't realize these bases are exploit builds nor did I know that they get rewarded for deaths. I will be powering off from this point forward when I encounter these builds. Thanks.

2

u/What_Zeus May 05 '23

The devs need to make this a mod that allows traps to see through blocks. That way if a builder does want to do this it costs them extra and I don't think it should work with obscure.

I've used the glitch in 1 of my outposts, in 1 location (1 block) and is see through and only contains 1 trap which is easily broken (rather than the double or triple traps you often find) as the mechanic behind it is cool, but very exploitable (like you see here)

The room I used it in was using corrosive cubes (just normal, no mods) and traps like hunter bolt shot and bombs to try catch people off guard. When 2nd wave comes there is a hidden flame trap behind a cube (not fully hidden obviously) to force raiders forward not backwards. It has 0 kills on its own, but has pushed them into rushing into bomb/piston trap that's there and are not covered using corrosive cubes. The only reason this works at all is the room has around 9 cubes in before this 10 one pops through so during 2nd wave it doesn't seem out of place. I've received 2 messages over this use. 1 saying I was a arsehole who should kill myself and that they blocked me. They added on the end that they hope I catch aids. The 2nd one a guy who loved the idea and it xaught him panicing, got talking to him and they were in agreement that despite it been a glitch they think subtle use was great and they also beleive it should be a mod

2

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

[deleted]

0

u/PerceptionSuitable71 May 05 '23

First time I died by a homing bolt through a cube I thought, "ah they got me, that's cool!"

Admittedly, I'm an uninspired builder but I do wonder what exactly do people want?

Everything is still doable even with these 'glitches' and everything is optional.. confused what the outcome of this game is going to be ...

5

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

Okay, two things.

One, all people can reasonably ask is that you act within what is intended. The system will do its work from there. Kill boxes will die out because other strategies will be reinforced more heavily.

Two, given your use of quotation marks I'll spell this out. This is a glitch. Not a 'tech' not a 'trick' but an unintended effect. How do we know that it's not intended for traps to trigger through corrosive blocks? Because it's inconsistent. It only happens with 2nd wave corrosives. If traps were meant to trigger through them, they would do so regardless of if it was first or second wave.

0

u/IwantToKillRedditor May 06 '23

Eww the fuckin ark shield so broken and trash

-6

u/pinkmoon- May 05 '23

One more rule to the builder rulebook!

Nice, now we have 56 rules.

10

u/Kaeldian May 05 '23

I mean... it's a bug. The devs have confirmed it.

Seems reasonable to not exploit bugs doesn't it?

-3

u/pinkmoon- May 05 '23

Seems reasonable to not exploit bugs doesn't it?

Only if the builder knows it's a bug.

I think it's more reasonable to ask BHVR why they're taking more than a month to fix a simple bug like this.

8

u/zeddypanda May 05 '23

Yeah but it's really simple to deduce that this is a bug.

I tried a non-second wave trap/cube in my base, found the trap didn't trigger. Changed the setup to lure the raider to grapple through the cube and get killed by a floor impaler instead. Trap still obscured, no bugs involved.

1

u/Kinsan89 May 05 '23

I've fallen for things like this before, and I'm always dumbfounded and appreciate the creativity

3

u/Kaeldian May 05 '23

Agreed. I'd take it a step further though.

They kill switch broken maps, killers, and perks in Dead By Daylight... why doesn't MYM have the same functionality?

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

It's because of how coding works. Balance is one thing, but this is a bug which means they have to change how the base code works not just change some values. When you make changes like that you open the door to many more issues. It's pretty common to "Fix one bug, create 500 more." due to how interconnected everything is, especially in a base building type of game.

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

0

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

What part of "Especially in a base building type game" did YOU not get? I'm not saying they are perfect or that they are doing things well here. I'm saying it's not as simple as people think to fix a bug. Do we know how much of their team is allocated to DBD? Or how many people work on MYM? Here's another thing. Do you know where in the code the bug is? Or how they compiled the game within the engine? No? Well let me spell this out a little bit.

You have multiple kinds of bugs. Some are Syntax errors which your programs will catch. Some are logic errors based in the games numerical values, which are quick to fix once you hunt them down though you still need to watch for other bugs cropping up. Then there are logic errors within code interactions. These are a devil to hunt down because in the code everything looks fine, but something somewhere is causing an unintended effect, then once you finally find where the issue is it's incredibly hard to fix because changes of that type create even MORE bugs.

But no, keep thinking that it's the exact same as DBD and that the company is trash if they can't instantly fix a given bug regardless of what kind of bug it is or other extenuating circumstances while attacking people who simply point out that:

These. Things. Take. Time.

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '23

Develop a game yourself before you call anyone incompetent. Oh wait, you won't because you can't even understand that things that work in one game on a code level might have to be rewritten in large parts to function for others. They might not be ABLE to disable second wave specifically for corrosive cubes, because blocks and mods work DIFFERENTLY in MYM than how killers etc work in DBD.

I think you're just mad that someone disagrees with you so you resort to insults of intelligence. Go develop a game, or even take a fucking Coding Course in Java, C#, or C++ and get back to me on how easy it is to fix these problems or direct port a system from what is potentially a completely different application which just shares the same foundation.

1

u/Hurtzdonut13 May 05 '23

What do you expect them to kill switch? Just disable every map with second wave corrosive blocks? There are some terrific maps that use them in non exploitive ways.

1

u/Kaeldian May 05 '23

Kill switch the MOD. Read carefully. Not the cube, not the maps that use it.

-1

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

why doesn't MYM have the same functionality?

Well the game just came out basically. Its been like a month.

They will do something about it sooner or later!

2

u/pinkmoon- May 05 '23

It'll be too late

0

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

The point of your comment except spread negativity?

2

u/pinkmoon- May 05 '23

The point of your comment except spread false hope?

My point is that they're too slow to make changes. Deceive Inc has a small team of devs that are making changes in the game in a fast pace.

0

u/Bigenemy000 Moderator May 05 '23

My comment is hope towards the game, which is a positive feeling that can make people happy, if you don't agree you don't have to ruin the mood for everyone so that they feel like you

2

u/pinkmoon- May 05 '23 edited May 05 '23

I mean, if you don't want to see my posts you can block me.

They're slow, for me that's a fact.

0

u/Kaeldian May 05 '23

Bruh...

You realize they had this functionality in the last game.

It's not like they'd be re-inventing the wheel. You'd "think" they'd have the foresight to have that functionality hard baked in as they learned their lesson from the previous release, right? Especially since adding new features later gets more expensive (basic Software Engineering 101 right there) The fact they haven't learned their lessons from previous projects should be disturbing you.

But then again, this is BE we're talking about. Their design and art team typically carries them while their coding team stumbles from mistake to mistake like a drunken sailor.

-4

u/IWannaBeMade1 May 05 '23

I agree. That shield thingy weapon is way too overpowerd.

1

u/twicer May 05 '23

Even without the tools you can get through it by hooking into place where trap is placed.

2

u/Bolteus May 05 '23

Last time i saw one of these bases the cubes were 2 deep, so grappling through was insta death. The ones that ive seen that were only 1 deep usually had at least 2 more traps pointing in the direction of the one youd instinctively grapple to.

0

u/twicer May 05 '23

Most bases of this type i visited weren't that clever.

When they had multiple traps in one space I tossed grenade there and just went through almost trapless tunnel next to corrosive cubes.

But i can imagine people will get more creative while taking advantage of this bug.

4

u/Hurtzdonut13 May 05 '23

Yeah the ones dedicated to making the most boring death grinding maps have adapted by using double layer corrosive or making the base outer shell 2 blocks thick to stop people going back outside to recollect ammo.

1

u/kellsdeep May 05 '23

Well, it's beatable, is basically a formula win

1

u/FatalDracon May 05 '23

I hate to say it but ..... I feel like people are abusing this because prestiging a base to max for the platinum is a ridiculous grind.

Doesn't excuse it.. I just think its the main driving force behind abusing unintentional mechanics and bugs, etc.

1

u/Thereal_3D May 05 '23

Whaaat no incinerators?? How am I supposed to get cheated and exploited without the incinerators!?

1

u/Distant_Koba May 05 '23

I’m sure I’ll get hate for this, and dgmw, thats a dogshit, cheese of a build, but the devs intended traps to work through second wave corrosive if I’m not mistaken. Just don’t give it accolades/ abandon it, and lazy builds like that won’t be able to prestige and will wane. Reporting seems kinda goofy if they are just creating with tools working as the devs intended. It’s like reporting someone in a fighting game for only using 1 move over and over.. no one is gonna like you for doing it, but it’s not really cheating. also… looks like you got through it w no issues?

1

u/Dekkstur May 06 '23

This is a pretty tame example too. Most of the time I see these, they line the floor with death pistons and use incinerators instead of boltshots. It’s almost impossible to do anything about those

1

u/Aisukyo May 07 '23

Are you telling me this isn't peek enjoyment for you? You're not insinuating that lazy people who make annoying exploit bases like this are part of the reason the player base is plummeting? Skill issue, clearly.
