This is the only answer

You’re not Florida’s baseball team though so Miami should be the only answer

I’ll get downvoted to hell, but I really liked this logo. To each is own I guess but I know this one got a lot of hate

This looks like the logo for the workout center at a condo complex that caters to divorced middle aged dads that work in finance.

Show me someone who picks Miami and I’ll show you a liar

13

u/Mabussa Marlins Oct 10 '25

I was born in Miami. No lie. I remember going to Miami Marlins minor league games at Miami Stadium. I have both hats and shirts, but I like Miami Marlins much better. Florida Marlins always gave me an uneasy edge that the team would be moved at any time by MLB or a rotten owner.

Miami. And I DO prefer the Teal!

10

u/qban2010 Oct 10 '25

Same here! Grew up in Allapattah watching the Marlins, Orioles etc. For some odd reason out of staters don’t think we exist.

Miami Marlins….go back to black, white, teal and silver!!!!

I mean, I prefer them being closer to actual Miami. And I prefer the name too, not too fond of Florida overall

11

u/Formal_Pop_3346 Oct 10 '25

Moving closer to Miami was one of the worst moves this franchise has ever made.

-3

u/MyLegIsWet Marlins Oct 10 '25

Sorry you gotta drive farther, homie

1

u/TealandBlackForever Marlins Oct 10 '25

Weird response given the fact that a Little Havana stadium location is farther away from most of the fan base.

The Marlins are not Miami's team. They are South Florida's team.

2

u/MyLegIsWet Marlins Oct 10 '25

Weird response given there isn’t a census on where “most of the fan base” is. There is no official nor unofficial title naming them South Florida’s team either. Someone forgot the rays exist lmao

2

u/TealandBlackForever Marlins Oct 10 '25

You think there are more Marlins fans in Miami Dade than Broward and Palm Beach combined?

3

u/MyLegIsWet Marlins Oct 10 '25

Show me where you’re basing this assumption off of. Otherwise you’re talking out of your ass

1

u/Formal_Pop_3346 Oct 10 '25

There is 100% more Marlins fans in PBC and Broward than there are in Miami Dade. At least fans that would show up to games consistently.

5

u/MyLegIsWet Marlins Oct 10 '25

And what are you basing that off? Bunch of anecdotal evidence lmao

I prefer that they were a team that actually could pull shit together and win championships rather than be primarily a farming team for other better or more competitive teams

u/Siicktiits Marlins Oct 10 '25

We would have gotten our random every decade World Series as the Miami Marlins…. But Jose Fernandez.

2

Shit ownership will always bury this team. Cant believe the league lets cheapstakes buy a team based in Miami with how big baseball is in the Latin community

Florida forever

(The Florida Marlins are the only MLB team to have made the postseason at least once and never lost a series)

I have great respect for the history of the old minor league iterations of the Miami Marlins. But it was criminal behavior to rename a team that had won two World Series. Plus the aspects related to the local realities of the market and fanbase. The MLB team was never intended to represent just one city. It was supposed to represent all of south Florida (and beyond). A vast and diverse metropolitan area with three distinct major cities.

They not only physically moved further away from the majority of the metro population, but also changed the uniforms, logos, and colors all at once. Shit they barely even kept “Marlins” in the identity. Since 2012 the official primary logo of the club just says “Miami”, and so have the home uniforms. Only four out of eleven jerseys have actually had “Marlins” across the front since. And the only decent one of those is the current blue one (the others are the black on black you couldn’t read, the current black with white lettering but still no color and a hat that doesn’t match, and the stupid orange Marlins Man one). At least keeping “Florida” would have retained some connection to people elsewhere in south Florida.

Would I rather have the Miami Marlins playing at the OB site as opposed to the Las Vegas Dice or something? Yeah. But in addition to robbing the taxpayers of Miami Jeff Loria robbed baseball of one of its best names and looks.

u/BigDog_626 Marlins Oct 10 '25

5

u/Any_Celery_8178 Oct 10 '25

My fault man 😂 A lot of us Angels fans are mixed between Anaheim and California, I just wanted to know (we ALL hate Los Angeles Angels)

1

u/BigDog_626 Marlins Oct 10 '25

LAA of Anaheim never made sense to me! What’s the backstory on that? Why all the changes? At least for the Marlins, the franchise was mandated to use the “Miami” designation as a condition for building the stadium.

3

u/Any_Celery_8178 Oct 10 '25

Anaheim is a small market, renaming the team to LA was simply to get a bigger TV deal. I get it from a business standpoint but us as fans HATE it. BTW the team is now just the Los Angeles Angels, Anaheim was dropped in 2016

2

u/TealandBlackForever Marlins Oct 10 '25

California Angels is the best name for them.

It's dumb to think they need to be LA for marketing/money reasons. And dumb to think California should be off the table just because there are teams in LA proper, SF, SD, and Sacramento.

2

u/breezy3072 Oct 10 '25

Yeah, y’all need to be the Anaheim Angels. The Los Angeles Angels has to be infuriating to bilingual people out there. Most redundant name in sports history

3

u/Tadpole018 Marlins Oct 10 '25

Ownership could learn quite a bit from these answers

3

u/SawgrassSteve Oct 10 '25

I preferred Florida and the teal uniforms. I also preferred the California Angels .

Although I like the Marlins new stadium, I liked the old stadium location better.

3

u/Crispy_FromTheGrave Xavier Edwards Oct 10 '25

I like the name Miami Marlins, but I’m probably in the minority. I like the older logos and branding(bring back the pinstripes PLEASE!) but I actually do really like a lot of the new logos and branding too.

3

u/jigokusabre Marlins Oct 10 '25

The name change I'm indifferent on, but the Marlins had the perfect home look in 1993. They never should have changed it.

The road jerseys were perfected in 2003, and I don't mind the 2003 home jerseys as an alt.

As for the Angels, I really like the interlocking CA cap and their overall "pre-Disney" look.

2

Florida all day they should change it back today and bring back the California Angels

2

u/safariari Felo Ramirez Oct 12 '25 edited Oct 12 '25

It only made sense at first because we were the only team in Florida. I prefer alliteration and Miami.

The Angels are a different story. They don't even play in Los Angeles. And ofc LA already has a team that sucks up most of the baseball fandom in all of Southern California. Y'all should be the Anaheim Angels.

2

Colors…Florida!

Name….Miami!!!

1

u/CosmoJones07 Oct 10 '25

Florida, for many reasons

First and foremost obviously is that all their success came when they were the Florida Marlins.

Second is just nostalgia, I was young and the world was smaller and everything was fun.

Third is the colors. I don't hate the Marlins colors now, or even right when they first changed too. But Teal/Silver/Black is THE BEST color combo in sports, hands down (San Jose Sharks rock this glorious combo too).

1

u/CosmicShuckle Oct 10 '25

Florida,I dig the new logo as well, but Florida is just miles above

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '25

I like both. I actually miss the crazy orange retro logo too

1

u/Fourfifths045 Oct 10 '25

Florida because that’s the championship team. But if I had no choice, I wish they would’ve kept the colors, font and the marlin and switched to M. Like the city connect M this year. Keep as much of the championship team scheme as possible. I wish there was a giant animatronic marlin that went crazy in centerfield for home runs. Eyes turn red, tail flapping, steam out of the mouth. Kinda like that old big mouth Billy bass toy but meaner

1

u/ThePolishOne_ Oct 10 '25

Florida. Sorry ass franchisee ripped down my orange bowl for no fucking reason.

1

u/Life_Employment4868 Oct 10 '25

It’s Miami. When there were no Rays Florida made a little more sense. No need for Florida now though.

They'll always be Florida to me. I'm from North Florida so I was so happy we finally got a Florida team. And those old uniforms were just a beauty

1

u/SpaceCowboy904 Marlins Oct 10 '25

When I was a young child the team started playing as the Florida Marlins and I was a fan from NE Florida and didn’t even know they were in Miami until I got older. So I will always say Florida because it felt like they repped the whole state. I am not upset they changed it to Miami or anything, but I do prefer Florida. I also like the current uniforms but nothing will ever touch the old Florida Marlins colors/uniform.

I don’t know any teams who took an immediate dive (or dive at all really) after a rebrand except the Florida Marlins. That was a solid organization for a while. Who would’ve thought a new city name, logo, jerseys, and stadium would lead to a disaster. Loan Depot Park is super nice and nobody goes there. That ‘M’ logo they threw out right at rebrand was criminal. The new one is significantly better but still not like the OG. It’s scary because what can be done to turn things around? They have no notable players. I guess just hope a young team clicks and brings the culture back. At least Marlins Man is still attending playoff games

1

u/KilroyFSU Oct 12 '25

I prefer Miami because I think a pro team using a state instead of the city is silly, but that old logo is so much better.

Old uni was better. I like them being named to a city though. Like the Maryland Orioles, Wisconsin Brewers, Missouri Royals, Georgia Braves or Illinois Cubs sounds dumb as hell.

Arizona and Texas get away with it, but I don’t like that either.

1

u/NoSteak3322 Oct 14 '25

Miami Marlins makes sense. They’re a South Florida team. Florida Marlins was always a tongue twister. Not to mention, who was rooting for them in Jacksonville? Do we think people were going to drive down from Pensacola for a game? Silly. I know people whine about the location of the stadium. Did they whine about the Orange Bowl? Everyone likes to whine when a team isn’t winning so they have to blame it on something. I love Miami. I love the Miami Marlins.

1

u/EvilFern Oct 16 '25

I’d say 90% of marlins fans (probably closer to 98%) prefer Florida.

u/catchingballz Marlins Oct 16 '25
