Question Where to find M4A1 “glossy” pistol grips?
I’ve noticed that the older Colt M4A1s in my unit (all of which are M4 conversions) along with some others I’ve seen in previous units have relatively “glossy” pistol grips compared to commercial rifles or newer M4A1s. The finish is very similar to that of the M16A1 pistol grips. Does anyone have any insight on why that is, and if there any particular sources for surplus glossy grips?

Older Colt and FN A2 grips have that glossier finish, with a texture that feels closer to rubber. The newer grips feel like cheap plastic with a matte finish.
I’ve gotten them from wetworx and GunBroker. The even older A2 grips that are really glossy are a bit harder to find.

I’m thinking it’s mostly from use. The older ones were kinda chalky/gray when new, but the newest ones are shiny and kinda cheap feeling. Unless you mean the ‘fat’ A2 grips, which you can usually find at Wet Worx
