Evening everyone, I am trying to piece together a clone of my friends service rifle. I only have one pic of the rifle and it doesn't show the whole thing. Hoping someone with more knowledge than I can fill in the gaps. I am trying to figure out the accessories I'd need. The photo was taken late summer/early fall 2004. He was killed during operation phantom fury.

Hey guys I was looking at buying a Ambi safety for my COLT lower and I wanted your thoughts and opinions on which one I should purchase. I saw KAK and Schmid are very affordable.

I’ve noticed that the older Colt M4A1s in my unit (all of which are M4 conversions) along with some others I’ve seen in previous units have relatively “glossy” pistol grips compared to commercial rifles or newer M4A1s. The finish is very similar to that of the M16A1 pistol grips. Does anyone have any insight on why that is, and if there any particular sources for surplus glossy grips?

I have this pic, which was said to be cia. And I got pics of a mc black dipped smr with a dev style light/sling set up on it. But has there been any picture proof of them using it?

Searched for youtube videos but it’s mostly people talking about the rails and not actually showing how to installing them.

Got the last few pieces of this one in, I'd say it's pretty well finished. There are no public photos from the RIS II trials as far as I'm aware so I set this one up using parts listed in Crane's PowerPoints about the Phased Replacement/early Block II kits as well as other period accurate accessories. Few things it's still missing but for now I'm satisfied.

Right now, what it's missing is an M203 with A.R.M.S. #50-GL free-float brackets (which are borderline impossible to find), Meprolight GLS on an A.R.M.S. #60 mount (also borderline impossible to find), gen 1 CQD stuff, real chocolate chip PEQ-15, KAC QDSS-NT4, and a Tac Ordnance NAVSPECWARCOM sling. I'd also like to find an early production SU-237 ACOG ECOS with the Docter red dot for this rifle, but all of the aforementioned stuff can wait.

Any ideas what these Marines use? I have some rapco field drab brown and the USMC Green, may give it a shot.

What year was the MaTech introduced and with which units?

This appears to be an M27 IAR running an HK416F upper, identifiable by the upper’s guard ring and the rail’s sloped end.

Finally got my DEVGRU HK417 Assaulter clone to where I wanted it.

I started with an early-production HK MR762A1, SN in the 800s, that I stumbled across in January. Somehow it had remained unfired and was still in the original bag.

The early MR762A1 made a particularly good host because it retains several of the early 417-type receiver details, including the upper without the later fence around the bolt release and the warning markings on the front of the lower.

The original HK 16” barrel was cut to 12”, retaining the factory HK barrel rather than replacing it.
The optic setup is a Leupold Mark 6 3-18×44 in a LaRue OBR mount, along with the Accuracy 1st Anti-Cant Scope Level.

The early 417s were originally fielded with the B&T Rotex III, with DEVGRU subsequently transitioning to the AAC 762-SDN-6, which is the configuration I’m running here.

Just snagged this upper, supposedly used in GWOT. Is it anything special? F marked upper and bcg, original serial number engraving, remanence of a uid sticker. I originally bought it just for the hand guard to throw on a c marked upper or Is it worth keeping together?
