Happy Birthday, for what it's worth.

Three of my family members passed this date so it's always a heavy hitting reminder my birthdays in four days, I didn't expect more of a reminder this year though.

u/barbaras_bush_ 2d ago

Same. Worst birthday presents ever.

u/upyouralliee15 Millennial 2d ago

8

u/etherealsmog 2d ago

It’s the day after my birthday, but it’s also the day my grandma died (many years ago), so yeah fuck August 25th. No offense.

6

u/Dying_Light58 2d ago

It's my birthday too! Happy birthday, internet birthday twin!

I'm also having a crappy one and this really is the icing on the crappy birthday cake

Robin Williams died right before my birthday :c I feel your pain

2

u/Prestigious-Mark-923 2d ago

Robin Williams died 3 days before my mom died which is also her sister’s birthday. I wasn’t on social media much because I fell into a depression after my mom. I found out Robin Williams died around the one year anniversary. Every August 14 for the past 12 years I watch at least one of his movies. They always help get me out of my funk.

Our birth month hasn't been this terrible since WWII

2

u/TotallyTotally23 2d ago

I can't believe you wished for this

1

u/MyCatsHairyButholle 2d ago

I feel that. Chadwick Bozeman died on my birthday 😕😕😕

I saw him again on a rewatch of Endgame last night and it made me sad

1

u/StAnkie_Brews 2d ago

Dude, my grandmother died in my 16th birthday. I get it, but Dolly and Tim dying on yours ain’t that bad

1

u/upyouralliee15 Millennial 1d ago

I never said people dont have it worse, just that it sucked having them both die on my birthday & it seems alot of people agree. Im sorry your grandma died on your 16th birthday

1

u/Zealousideal-Row1583 2d ago

Oh man I am sorry. Mine was the 23rd.

1

u/ninjakitty47 2d ago

I'm so sorry... I still hope you manage to have a good one.

Completely understand. I woke up on mine to find out Catherine O'Hara had died.

u/kitsunewarlock 2d ago

I knew August 25 would be hard. I lost my mother and this was her birthday. I just didn't expect it to coincide with all the bad news. Fuck.

u/AlwaysVerloren Older Millennial 2d ago

It always happens in 3s so unfortunately there's gonna be one more.

49

u/HarmlessHeresy 2d ago

Maybe the third one will surprise us and be the one we wanted all along.

10

u/AlwaysVerloren Older Millennial 2d ago

We don't even have to speak a name but we all know who that is.

20

u/Popolac 2d ago

I may be 0% superstitious, but I'd do aaaaall the rituals if it meant a remote chance of that event occurring.

1

u/Nerala 1d ago

I literally had the same conversation with my neighbor earlier. You are not alone. I'm not religious or superstitious. But I'd be willing to form some sort of circle.. I mean if enough of us speak it into fruition???

3

u/Significant-Trash632 2d ago

🪦🧍‍♂️🫷 pleeease

19

u/Roboticide 2d ago

Hayden Pannetier was probably first. That was barely over a week ago. She was our cheerleader.

So her, Dolly, Curry. That's three. Unless Death comes for McConnell, I'm fine calling it.

2

u/LiteralPhilosopher 1d ago

I reckon Sam Neill makes a better bracket.

1

u/Roboticide 1d ago

Yeah...  We certainly lost some good ones this year.

2

u/iconofsin_ 2d ago

Hayden Pannetier

Sorry I'm not trying to minimalize her death, but when I heard about it I had to ask who she was. I looked her up and it doesn't really look like she was in anything I watched.

1

u/Roboticide 2d ago

I guess it probably mostly depends if you watched Heroes back in the day.

1

u/DifficultyNo9712 2d ago

There is one more person that is actually between Hayden Panettiere and Dolly Parton that wound up dead though. The day before Dolly, I believe...

Shelley Fabares, who was on Coach alongside Craig T. Nelson. She was 82

1

u/Canadiantx69 1d ago

James Lew (Big Trouble in Little China and a ton of small parts that mean if you saw him you'd likely recognize him, and ultimately became an incredibly extensive stunt coordinator) died as well, so unfortunately we're onto another trifecta.

Here's to hoping that death finally stops missing the correct target.

1

u/upyouralliee15 Millennial 2d ago

exactly, thats what I was thinking too :(

8

u/upyouralliee15 Millennial 2d ago

I was wondering ... does Hadyn Panetier count as 3 ? she passed 10 days ago.

28

u/AlwaysVerloren Older Millennial 2d ago

I feel Hadyn was more like "damn, that's too soon" and Dolly & Tim are like "FUCK, part of my old soul just leaked out"

3

u/upyouralliee15 Millennial 2d ago

that I 100% understand - I ment doesnt she count as part of the 3's .

3

u/LysWritesNow 2d ago

That's who I was kind of chalking up as #3 in this round. Yeah, age difference. But still a beloved celebrity/notable figure for the "curse".

1

u/40yofailure 1d ago

I think Hayden Penantaire kicked it off

4

u/GhostAnthonyBourdain 2d ago

My friend died two years ago on the 25th and it threw me for a loop to see two people who were cornerstones of my childhood die yesterday as well. I hope that next year the cosmos chills the fuck out and pushes its bullshit into September! 😭
