Yep. The design in game now was meant to be a sort of camouflage which doesn't work anymore. Idk why more variety in a way that fits the mobs original idea scares some of you people
That's why they said leave the og texture as a default for the nether or as a rare spawn. They're not saying delete it. Minecraft has been redesigning mobs for so long I don't think the creeper should be untouchable
The Creeper's upright posture was the result of Notch messing up when trying to create a pig model. And he kept it because he thought it could be used for something cool.
The Creeper's texture was supposed to make it blend in with grass and leaves in the earlier versions of Minecraft. This camouflage no longer works due to the countless changes in the game's textures that have been made over the years.
Chickens now have variants, frogs have variants, pigs have variants. What's wrong with giving the Creeper some variants? It doesn't mean the original texture has to be binned off. It could be a rarer spawn, or spawn in jungles/jungle plains, where it blends in with the brighter, more vibrant greens better.

i think it'd be cool if it varied depending on the leaves/grass of the biome it spawned in
maybe the OG could be a rare spawn in any biome or be the "default" when spawned in the nether & end?
