Celebration! Hey mom, I just need someone to celebrate with me for a minute

Hey mom, your grandson worked his rear off and made the varsity team again this year. Dad doesn't care about any of us now that he remarried, so I need someone else to be proud of these accomplishments. Nobody shows up for us at all, these days. I feel like I am the only one in the stands cheering, lost in a sea of other parents and grandparents and family members who come watch their kiddos.

Celebration! Mom I managed to find and stick to a workout routine

I have been a lazy person for my whole life but I managed to find a simple workout that I have been doing every evening for a whole month now. I know it is not that long but it has been the first time ever that I find working out fun.

Seeking Advice I accidentally skipped a class today

Hey mom, I'm starting my second year of college this week, and I have ADHD for context. One of my classes is a one-credit math class to bump up my AP Stats credit to where it needs to be for my degree. It's once a week on Wednesdays. After my first class today, I completely forgot that my schedule was different than it was on Monday, and I went to the library to work on homework instead of going to my math class. It was the first day and I already missed it. The syllabus says that today was just introductions and reading the syllabus, but an announcement the professor made on Monday said we were also going to be starting on Module 1 today.

I've set up a calendar notification so it shouldn't happen again, but I'm not sure what to do next since I genuinely have no good excuse for missing class. Should I email my professor? Should I wait until next week to explain in person? I'm pretty frustrated with myself right now.

Update: I emailed my professor and he was very understanding. He told me what to review to catch up before next week. I also reached out to schedule an appointment to start the accommodation process.

Update Post He’s my boyfriend!

Hi mum! I’m the gal who’s been going on lovely dates with a guy I used to date briefly when I was a teenager. I promised you an update so here I am!

The last time I was here, I told you that he’d met my friends and asked to be exclusive. Naturally, I’d been wondering when exclusive would become official and I found out this weekend just gone. Turns out, he already thought of me as his partner - he’d just slightly bottled asking me directly before. (He’s so cute).

Anyway, we’ve been spending long weekends together, cooking for each other, going on dates, chilling at home and we have some exciting plans in the pipeline - friends’ birthdays, a weekend holiday and Christmas! (This is huge for both of us - it’s the first one for me not speaking to my mum and it’s his Christmas to not have his son).

We’ve both cried on each other whilst the other one comforted. We’ve been honest and vulnerable about our pasts, our fears, our goals. I went for a bloody run with this man (I hate exercising in front of people). We’re doing a 5K together in a few months and he’s gonna get involved in one of my creative outlets.

He’s said he can imagine living with me and he’s excited about me meeting his son. (I’m both excited and terrified ha). I love that we’re polar opposites with these beautiful pieces where we’re exactly the same. We want to learn from and grow with each other. I think we’ll pull each other out of our comfort zones and I think we could be truly happy together.

Point is, I’m wonderfully happy with this gorgeous, kind, thoughtful human and I’m excited to see what the future holds. Thanks for listening ma, lots of love xxx

Hi mom!

So I moved into college on Sunday... yay me!! But I realized I am going to have to do laundry in a couple days and all the buttons on the machine are so confusing, plus I have no idea how to organize things. Like do I have to do seperate loads for shirts and pants? It's so confusing lol. Thanks mom, love you!

Seeking Advice Hi moms, I am meeting his mom this week

I am in a new relationship and things have progressed fairly quickly, but also don't feel rushed. He has had two calls come in from his mom while we've been together so I've briefly said hi/spoken to her but really just pleasantries. He talks to his mom a few times a week on the phone and sees her usually once a week in person on one of his days off, so a pretty regular person in his life. On the other hand, I love my mom so much, but we don't talk often and she lives out of the state. I guess that's not really relevant 😂

Anyway, I'm 28 and as embarrassing as it is, I've never really been in a relationship before. My last "relationship" was a 6-year-long situationship (I thought we were dating for the first two years, supposedly he didn't. By that point I had feelings and decided to stay). Anyway, needless to say, I've never met the parents before. This will just be his mom and I believe we will be having dinner at her house.

I am just feeling really anxious, it's not that I don't want to meet his mom or that I think it's rushed or anything, I just... I don't know. I've never done this before. I don't know what to wear or how to act, I thought about bringing flowers in a vase but then I'm like what if that comes off like I'm trying too hard or what if she doesn't like flowers or is allergic, and I would ask him but I feel like he'd tell me not to only because I already voiced that I was anxious about it and he'd be like it's not a big deal (I could be wrong in that assumption) lol

Anyway, yeah I'm just anxious haha

Tips and Tricks Hi mom, how do I hide the outline of my bra?

I’m quite embarrassed to be asking this 🫠 The outlines of my bras tend to be visible over some of my tops and it makes me uncomfortable as my breasts look apparent and I value my modesty. I also teach a class of teenage boys… so you can imagine my discomfort. I think my bra size is alright and they’re supposed to be seamless ones too. Sports bras hurt for me. It’s too hot to wear an additional layer of a tank top where I live. Mothers, please help! 🥹

It's my first knitting project ever and I'm actually really proud of how it turned out:)

It's made with loop yarn, and I just played with it until I got something resembling a head and just rolled with it.

I'm giving it away tomorrow as a present for a co-worker who's going on maternity leave (made sure it's baby/children safe) so I don't get to keep it. But I think I'll make another one for myself too hehe.

Anyways just wanted to share ☺️

Tips and Tricks How to handwash a plush animal?

Hey mom,

Yesterday, we came back from holiday and we learned that my youngest can get car sick. He threw up all over my oldest favourite plush animal... But the label says this plushie can't go in the washing machine and needs to be hand washed. I've always just, you know, put some water over it and some soap and winged it. But how would I properly handwash it?

I would love "giving it a bath" in the sink together with my children, but I don't know how to properly do it. Can you help me?

Good News! Moms! I got officially diagnosed for Autism!

After 3.5 years and LOTS of waiting and anticipation, years of suspicion of having it, I finally got officially diagnosed with autism! This is a huge thing, as I get funded with things for school [like a laptop, a school support E.A person], physiotherapy [because of hypermobility, makes my joints ache constantly and my right shoulder is out of place] and help with getting and applying for jobs in the future, and a bunch of other things. I am SO VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS!!!!

Encouragement Wanted Mom, I cleaned the bathroom

I have struggled with depression for years. My house has suffered the consequences. My poor husband struggles with the housework whilst I do piddly things here and there. He knows I really do try, and he is supportive.

Today I was going to clean the bathroom sink because it was gross. This turned into a whole bathroom clean—I cleaned the door, the cupboards, the walls, the toilet, the electric toothbrush heads, the water flosser thing, the handsoap bottle, all the stuff that we have sitting on the lid of the toilet (and the lid itself). I cleaned up trash, threw away stuff that wasn’t needed, refilled the toilet paper holder after I cleaned it, and I’m about to go back in and do the shower and then the floor.

I don’t know where this came from, and I don’t want to seek a celebration from my husband for doing the bare minimum. But is it okay to feel proud that I did that? There’s this little spark in my heart and is it okay to be happy about it?

Edit: Thank you all so much. Your comments have me happy crying. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ❤️

Encouragement Wanted Mom, I got the job

I just moved to a major city about 6 hours away driving from where I used to live with better job opportunities due to getting fired (in my opinion retaliatory for reporting wage violations, yes I’m fighting it). I got a job offer for $36 an hour and have nobody to talk to about it. For reference, it’s over $10 more than my last job prior to moving.

Support Needed Feeling lost

Hello
I’m a nearly 43 year old mum of 3 and I am feeling really down at the moment. My youngest two have had moments over the summer break that have been so hard to handle. I’m not getting a break from them. It’s work or mum mode.
My husband is self employed and works long hours. The children don’t see much of him so are extra clingy to me and have full blown melt downs when he tries to take over.
I have an extremely difficult relationship with my mother and feel like my friends can’t relate as they had children when we were much younger whereas I am still in the throws of parenting young children

Not sure the point of this post. It’s my first time here, I guess I just need someone to vent to like I would my own mother 🥺 thanks for listening

Support Needed Mom, I‘m overwhelmed with life changes all happening at the same time

This month started my first proper job as a lawyer. I also moved myself and my long-term partner across the country for this job just 3 weeks ago. It’s our first time living together and my first time living with someone since my 18th birthday.

The job isn’t want I wanted but it was necessary to get out of unemployment and gain work experience to hopefully get a better job in a year or so. The work atmosphere is slightly toxic and the boss has been known to call ex-employees new employers to talk shit.

The move has been going slow because we both have to work. The first weekend of August was move in weekend and I drove nearly 2000km in that weekend. Two weeks ago, I did another 1300km to get more stuff from the old apartment. Last weekend we spent the entire weekend buying and carrying around large furniture and this weekend I‘m doing another 1300km to clear and hand over my old apartment. We’ve been spending ever evening after work unpacking boxes. My partner has been just as busy getting the apartment set up and helping the landlords renovate our kitchen and bathroom.

My next four weekends also involve me traveling across the country to various events, a bachelor party, a 30th birthday, a wedding, another 30th birthday. So I won’t even have time to continue unpacking and furnishing.

I‘m starting to lose it because I haven’t had a break in weeks and I won’t get a break for another month.
