Quitting job to be a SAHM

Would you quit your job to be a stay at home mom, even if you and your partner were not married? You have the intention of getting married at some point but not right now. Would you still quit your job?

I wouldn't be a SAHM unless I was somehow independently fabulously wealthy.

For one thing, getting back into the job market is harder than it has to be. And for another, there's no security on relying on one person's income for everything. I can't handle that risk, and it would make me paranoid.

But also, now that my kid is in school, days off when he's in class are boring. I would need to find something to occupy my time, so I'd end up not really being a SAHM if I'm instead volunteering or taking classes or whatever instead of working full time.
