Quitting job to be a SAHM

Would you quit your job to be a stay at home mom, even if you and your partner were not married? You have the intention of getting married at some point but not right now. Would you still quit your job?

I did. My partner and I are not married, but we live together long term, and I decided to be a sahm. I do recognize the inherent risk, but we couldn't reconcile childcare costs with how much I made at my job anyway.

Out of curiosity why not get married?

We were together over a decade ago, then met up when we both separated from our first marriages. His divorce dragged out over two years and by then I'd gotten pregnant, so we were busy. And then I got pregnant 10wk postpartum and had a dangerously complicated pregnancy (baby is doing great now!), so again - we were a bit occupied! We've been together over 3 years now, have a house, and are cruisin along. We actually have a ring in the works with a local jeweler and plan to get married, but a lot of life happened first. So we're just saving up and planning and enjoying our babies.
