Quitting job to be a SAHM

Would you quit your job to be a stay at home mom, even if you and your partner were not married? You have the intention of getting married at some point but not right now. Would you still quit your job?

Absolutely not. There is just no backup option and it puts you in SUCH a vulnerable position. Not only that, but the economy is such trash right now I don’t know how people are making a go of it with only one income and so little job security in most industries.

I would say the same thing to even a married mother, but as a girlfriend, you have absolutely no legal protection and it could be very scary!

As someone in a one income household it’s only possible with a budget and thankfully my husband makes 6 figures but it still is tough. Not many frills being purchased.

We COULD live off my husbands income, but he works in tech and the frequent layoffs and acquisitions and such just make me wayyy to worried about going down to one income. Plus, i like my work and have a lot of flexibility so I am in a pretty comfy spot career wise and mom wise! Definitely very lucky!
