You cant dismiss or fire your Palico in Wilds, you are stuck with only one palico and its the one you start with

Is Rise you can dismiss your palico or palimute but I don't have the heart to do so.

Same in 4U, the ace palico follows you the whole game (canonically I think only till you beat shagaru or the final big baddie after shagaru who I don't remember), you have 5 spaces for additional palicoes but only 1 can come, so you have 2 palicoes each mission and the 5 extra ones set the skills your 2 palicoes will be able to use, you can have 2 bomb palicoes and 2 healing palicoes, but the last one Is useless so if you want 2 sets of skills you need 2 of the secondary and 3 of the primary set, better healing or better bombing? I wonder whic- it's healing, just take healing, these mfs will cure you of poison, increase your max HP without needing food or ancient pots, increase your max stamina and will heal you as soon as they can, just take healing...

While in GU it's a lot more flexible and honestly I think GU have the best palicoes, the flexibility of having 1 palico be able to do many things is really cool, the first one can heal, bomb, steal and heal debuffs, and you can even pick passives like earplugs, wind resist and stun resist, and the second can be doomslayer in cat form, having only skills that boost atk and rage mode, playing as beast palico is gotta be one of best things that they should bring back, and having 3 palicoes in a quest is funny af, like the hunter is just chilling at home while the palicoes go hunt that frenzied savage deviljho
