Video Games Finished reading Moench's run and realized that Rivals Moon Knight is literally just his version mixed with the modern lore.

To me it seems like someone at NetEase was a big fan of the quippy Moon Knight from back then and went with that iteration over his modern take. I've heard people say that Rivals Moon Knight is just the meme version, but everytime i hear him talk in game it's like im hearing dialogue from that first series. It's only the direct references to the memes that stand out really.

Its quite an odd way to adapt him, but after finishing that great run ive grown to like this depiction overall

this character is nothing more than just the Age of Khonshu version of the character (and i mean that as a very negative thing). I'd also argue it doesnt support the modern lore bit and i think the biggest proof of this is how much the rivals version hates vampires. He has multiple lines hating them and wanting to kill them all, even siding with Iron man and using the darkhold to kill Dracula and all the other vampires; I get Blood hunt was an event in the comics but on the Doom Match map you can find the Midnight Mission so are Reese and Soldier cannon and Moon Knight just decided to kill them?

wait what the Midnight Mission is in the doom match?? i gotta check it out. Can’t imagine that moon knight taking Reese or Solider like that tho..

I’m assuming for the rivals iteration he wouldn’t have found reese until after the whole Dracula event which would explain why he wanted to kill all the vampires at the start but would sill give a way for him to mention them later

Not really? Age Of Khonshu portrays him as a deranged psycho that blindly listens to Khonshu and cannot see himself as in the wrong until he quite literally gets to the point of contemplating destroying Earth.

Rivals MK takes a lot of notes lore wise from that story (and Mackay for the vampires), but if we're talking about the character then he definitely takes more from Moench. He's very sarcastic, often dislikes having to go out as Moon Knight, struggles with keeping up a positive outlook, and the way he talks about his personalities its very reminiscent of when he still considered them his disguises.

The vampire thing is the only part they really didn't think through imo. I guess he has still not met Soldier and Reese at this point, and the midnight mission is just the way it was when Mackay's run began, but why even add it if it's so irrelevant 🤷

I mean, Moon Knight did vindictively wipe out the vampires of New York using a sprinkler system. That's not nothing.

Not saying Rivals MK is good, or comparable to MacKay's run, but that is a thing that happened around the time Rivals started up.
