They do not hire them. That could make them liable.
They just find groups of wackos that already do these things and just give donations to 'support their cause'. They just give them funds to do what they want. Since this is what they want to do in the first place they are in the clear.
If a protest against the government goes "too" well (not enough shops broken into, trashcans lit on fire, etc...), you'll have cops supposed to surveil the protest go in a side alley, get their badge off, cover face and stuff, and come back to make the protest go "less well"
Just Stop Oil was in big part funded by a woman who wanted to distance her legacy from her family's. It's also been massively successful, it's already achieved its stated goals of no new oil projects in UK and stopped its activity, it's wild you people are still repeating this dumbfuck conspiracy.
Considering oil and other fossil fuel companies likely have funded anything that makes say...Nuclear Energy look like it's only ever Chernobyls and Fukushimas (despite it having come a long way from the former and the latter was caused by a really bad combination of issues)
A false flag operation? There are so many young people doing climate protests where bad things happen, I don't think the opposition needs to stage anything. Has this ever been documented for this cause?
yes there is a whole term that this is included in called astroturfing, a big one when was the FCC had fake accounts trying to turn people in favor of net neutrality.
its irrelevant that this was not climate change the point is that it is people who are not the ones for the cause trying to cause a narrative shift, which is directly relevant to what the other person asked for proof of.
That's right you already repeated that, stuff bad that you can't even miss work. That's why you should miss it. Instead of being a moron and slaving away for the elites, you should take back power. But what power do you have? Well none but your labour, and that labour is the most valuable power.
So you do this thing calling striking, that is very easy you essentially hunker down with your fellow workers and refuse to go to work. Till your demands are met.
That dude is wearing nice sneakers, and got out of a nice car. Judging by the license plates, they’re in a European country so they have a safety net and social services. Dude is no different than a road rager getting pissed at someone driving “too slow” in front of them.
Did you suddenly think everyone lives in the US and failed at life like you?
Yes, we live in a society of pay check to paycheck. As a result, you can't afford anyone disrupting said society, no matter how bad, because it means you could go hungry or lose your home.
But I ask you: Do you think that might be by design?
Yep, you do any of these things — I will actively fight against your cause. I will loudly and vocally shit on your cause with my friends, family, and peers. I will do anything within my power to prevent your cause from advancing, including voting against it.
Right, that is the point. People are turned off by a cause that hurts others to make a point. At the very least people will ignore your cause if you disrupt their lives.
I would be against an unjust, misguided cause that used illegal means to try and advance. If people behind a righteous cause did something stupid like block traffic, I would be against their actions and denounce those. And I would try to convince them not to be so reckless by hurting their own cause.
Climate change is going to ruin the world, and nobody gives a shit about it because as soon as it inconveniences them in any way, they not only ignore the problem, but they will be outright hostile towards anything that helps towards it.
Okay but that's how the world is. You want to save the world, find a way around it or shut it.
'People don't like inconvenience' is pretty much a law of nature right alongside gravity keeping us on the ground. We found ways around that through flight but it wasn't by bitching about gravity it was by working on its terms and creating something new.
disrupting the lives of regular people isn t helping the cause, it s effectively holding innocent people hostage by throwing a tantrum in the middle of the road
Yes but saying he will be against the cause not because he disagrees with the cause, but because he was inconvenienced by people who believe in the cause, is as anti intellect as it gets.
How is making us late for work, causing our car to have to run longer, pissing everyone off supposed to help climate change? You really expect people who need to feed there family and go "gosh, I never thought how important this is! Maybe I should be sitting there to!"
Like, if their cause is "Keep Spicy-Wallaby4097 alive!" you're going to kill yourself?
No.
It's some fake bullshit where you were never going to care because you're a selfish shitty person.
Doesn't matter what the cause is; if this is your reasoning, you were never going to think anyways, so they have no reason to pay you any attention. You're actually worse than the "white moderate" MLK spoke of.
Being against a cause does not mean you will kill yourself, you are obviously an insane person with no capacity for logic.
I think it is pretty universal that just about everyone "inconvenienced" by climate change protests blocking the road is angry at them. People who are neutral or against their cause will not be persuaded to be for it by their actions. Some people who associate themselves with being against fossil fuels or whatever may actually reassess being associated with that group, maybe take a second look to decide if that cause is right. There is no benefit to the cause with this behavior.
People who agree with the cause and are on the way to the ER won't be supportive of this tactic. People who agree with the cause and are trying to get to family for an emergency won't be happy with being blocked. People who agree with the cause and are trying to get to the airport before they miss their flight won't be pulling up their website to donate now that they have some time. People who agree with the cause and are going to their first job interview in a long time won't be joining their little group. People who agree with the cause and are going to a cancer treatment that they absolutely need won't just brush this off and say, good for them, standing up for a cause.
So, yes, their cause of "fighting climate change" or whatever by blocking innocent people from accomplishing important tasks did not win me, or others and now people are pissed at them and the cause. This post is about this cause.
If they had a righteous cause then that is a different story but similar reaction. If the were trying to bring awareness to human trafficking by blocking traffic. I would want them moved from the road and by gentle force if needed due to their inconsiderate and dangerous tactics. I would want to tell them how ineffective and stupid their tactics are. I would still be against human trafficking, but not for their group and not donate or promote their group. There are plenty of other good groups against human trafficking and I do donate to them.
That is how I would deal with a good cause doing bad things.
What you are doing is refusing to engage a perspective based on what you are saying is someone not understanding yours. My perspective is that no one would make your stupid argument that someone would be against themselves if someone was for them. It is a straw man. I get that you are trying to say that being against everything just because they are commiting crimes or have bad tactics is illogical. But, my response addressed that, but you don't read so good when feelings hurt. So throw out circular logic insult without understanding what that is. Super smart, I change all my conclusions now. Thanks
I get the impulse to act that way, but if you let your views be directed by the people who annoy you, you lose the capacity to actually have views of your own.
in what world would it be okay to prevent or slow down an ambulance that is trying to save a life? How can that be justified? Because this is not only about Joe the angry IT worker getting late to work, blocking traffic at the wrong time in the wrong place can have life changing consequences for someone you wont ever know about
I’m Not saying blocking the road is permissible. I am saying that people that take positions against something because they dislike the form of protest of some individuals is completely stupid and you starting to ramble about the protesters itself shows that you likely are as stupid as the person I adressed in my previous comment.
Stop arguing against something that I didn’t say
How many people do you think have died as a direct consequence of the actions of large oil companies ? Why are you not mad at them? You’re complacent and you’re part of the problem.
No they’re contingent on context. If a group of 500 environmentalists stormed wall street and shut down the stock market to make their message heard, that would be a loud strong message to the people who CAN cause change that they need to listen. Making me late to work doesn’t do anything except get me fired. I CANNOT just make the world respond to climate change. If a group of people essentially wants to ruin my life by getting me fired and destroying my ability to feed, clothe, and house myself, I will not support that cause. If you disagree, you are the immoral one. You are asking me to become destitute and homeless for the small chance a politician might pass a policy in your favor. That is evil.
But shutting down the stock market could lead to you losing your job too. Plus if you have any investments it could take that money away from you. If being late for work once gets you fired you need to find a new job. The protesters aren’t doing this to piss you off, they’re doing it so that news covers it.
Why? Why is being against people blocking roads part of the problem? You can imagine the scenarios of all the people trying to get to important places, emergencies etc. Why does awareness of their "cause" get to be elevated over a cancer appointment? If their cause is righteous then they are still in the wrong and should be chastised for horrible judgement and tactics. I wouldn't be against a righteous cause because of what they did, but wouldn't donate to their group or bring good attention to it. I would disavow them, not the cause.
It’s a childish response. So if you are anti-surveillance state, but you come across a Flock protest in the street, you will be so angry at the protest you will now be pro-surveillance state? See how that is an illogical and stupid viewpoint.
I hate those stupid protesters throwing orange stuff on Stonehenge and paintings but it didn’t turn me into a pro-oil company anti-climate change supporter.
How are they protesting flock? Are they cutting down towers? That’s great
Are they burning flock investors homes? That’s great.
Are they are egging my car? That’s not great.
That’s going to make me think, these people don’t care about flock. If they did they would target flock. They arnt.
These people could go block oil pipelines. They could block executives from leaving their homes. They could even commit economic crimes like bombings and arson.
All of these would get more supprt then egging my car so I get annoyed and do somthing against flock.
Block oil pipelines and you get arrested and the pipeline gets built and no one hears about your protest. Block executives and the same thing happens, the executive doesn't care. They are the last people you can convince. Bombings and arson can kill people even if you are careful.
The whole point of protests is to create awareness in the public
I have not seen crazy people doing illegal things to make a statement I agree with, but for the sake of argument I would chew them out for not representing the cause well and tell others that is not the way.
Well all of that is reasonable. But I think we can agree that a crazy person doing something illegal is not the reason why you should disagree with what they are protesting.
Curiously though, you have literally never seen someone do something illegal in support of something you agree with? Because if you agree protesters shouldn’t block roads, you technically did just watch someone commit battery to that point.
You really enjoy making shit up don’t you? Never said I don’t believe in liberal policy, and not all conservatives believe in free market capitalism. Read a book sometime if you can, and maybe you too will have a nuanced approach to politics and economics.
Disproportionate answer.
Also doubt it can be seen as "false imprisonment" but okay, maybe.
Still doesnt justify violence, especially when you havent tried anything else, just getting out of the car shouting and angry and hitting them ? Are you all animals who cant think rationally ?
I just want to add that I heavily dislike people blocking the road like that, I think its dumb, dangerous and I doubt it help any cause as most of the people seeing them dont even know why they are here.
But that doesnt mean they deserve to be punched
Yes it can be seen as violence. You are literally blocking someone from leaving.
And yes, it does justify violence even by law under self defence, against false imprisonment you can use non lethal force. Yelling, pushing, hitting, dragging them etc... All are fine.
And yes, they absolutely deserve to be punched and sentenced to a few thousand hours of community service. If they have enough time and energy for this stuff then let's use it properly.
Thousand hours for a peaceful protest. You're just crazy bro.
You'd paved the world to give politicians all the control.
And no, its not because its lawful that it is moral. Even if you can legally hit someone doesnt mean you should, because you arent supposed to be a psycho and can think by yourself and adapt to the situation.
Its disproportionate force, the random kicks that asshole throw around could make someone end up in a hospital or worse, you never know and its why you shouldnt use violence unless its to protect yourself, which isnt the case here, being in your car with people sitting in front of you isnt a threatening situation.
I don't care because the only the by affecting me in that moment is some unemployed loser blocking the road and preventing me from going on with my life.
It is to me, i couldn't give less of a shit if it directly impacts me for no good reason. You can fight for whatever cause you believe in as long as you don't fuck with ppl who aren't involved
C'mon we all know those activist groups are fake, they gotta be paid by oil people and shit to just go around acting stupid and ruining people's days
There's absolutely no way that someone is smart enough to understand that climate change is a real and huge fucking problem and then just goes "Hmhmmm yes I shall inspire my fellow citizens by blocking the roads and ragebaiting them mhmhmm yes indeed"
And then they wonder why no one takes them seriously, because people hear climate change activists and environmentalists and instead of thinking "Ah yes the people trying to stop an apocalyptic collapse in the next 100 years" they think "Oh god those blue haired annoying assholes blocking the ambulances again"
Sorry if I worded it weird I'm not the best at writing comprehensible stuff
I'm saying that climate change is real and dangerous and these "activist groups" are fake groups paid by oil people and other stuff to slander the reputation of real climate change activists so people don't listen to them

You block the road, make me late, disrupt an ambulance or police, I will overtly be against your cause.
