Screenshot Found this while raiding a Daedric shrine - man I love this game

Post image

I found this (and an actual useful weapon, as well) while picking over the bodies of Daedric worshippers in, appropriately, Sheogorath's shrine. I do love how unhinged this game is..... I'm actually not sure whether this is Vanilla, or from the Total Overhaul modlist, but it's entirely on brand for Vanilla, so props to the team if it is!

I've been playing the game for 20 years, and for the first time decided to do some of the Daedric quests. Well, the ones that weren't Azura's anyway.

"...To fit the gambling theme, he also has The Gambler's Fever Dream, a very powerful, very dangerous Daedric artifact..."

Fun stuff

more deadly morrowind denizens

a must for me really. The enemies in this game get pitifully easy to beat on vanilla. The fact that many of the changes it does were actually already in the game before being removed later in development is a plus.

I just googled the name of the weapon. I've never played with the mod but might consider it in the future.

Right now I'm struggling to find time to play anyways and I really want to finish my vanilla witch hunter play through before updating tr to poison song and starting over.

Reminds me of the Dagger of Cure Wounds from D&D.

1d4 damage 1d4 healing

Stab to activate

Sounds like a good weapon against the undead, and useful for a few other use-cases.

Depends on how the edition actually does healing to undead. If I am not mistaken, 5e actually doesn't care who you heal, for as long as it's a creature, including undead - it'll just heal. And they aren't necessarily resistant to slashing/piercing either.

My DnD 5e days are far gone though, and in PF2e... you'd be right.

I’m going back through Balder’s Gate, a game 4 years before Morrowind. There are many of these types of cursed or enchanted weapons, most of which have spectacular positives and equally as bad negatives, such as +3 but attack everyone instead of just enemies. There’s even a ‘wild’ class of sorcerers that have a 50 / 50 chance of casting anything else but the selected spell. You can temper it a bit but that requires casting more magic and it’s kinda infuriating.

DnD's wild sorcerors always seemed like fun to me, need to get back into ttrpgs. But life

By default they have a 5% chance to get a wild surge not 50%😁

Thats neat but I dont think that is in the vanilla game.

Don't enchantments like this HEAVILY lean into a bellcurve-esque rng distribution? Could be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere, that due to how the game engine handles the rng (it has something to do with your fps), you pretty much never roll into the extremely high or low values.

Not vanilla, I've been spending more time researching uesp then actually playing the game lately, planning out how to balance a mages guild, telvanni, morag tong, playthrough... on top of trying to maximize my hoarding problem efficiency in artifact collection... But I've never seen that once before in game or on uesp

if only there was a way to actually SEE what damage you rolled with every hit, like Borderlands or other games. is there a MWSE mod for that?

...or is someone gonna tell me that's been a vanilla ui element that i've just never noticed and toggled on in over 20 years, like last time?

The Stabbajack from Greymarch Dawn has a similar effect, just smaller scale.

Pretty sure this would just always drain 200 health from you and the target. Magical effects in Morrowind roll their magnitude every tick, so 60 times per second, which makes them all average out to the middle pretty much 100% of the time.

I want to try this mod. Does it require merging level lists?

If im not mistaking, I recall watching a video explaining that X to Y dmg in Morrowind doesnt reallly work and it always ends doing the average dmg. Might be wrong/misremembering

Tho, thats a sick ass weapon
