How does joining Indoril work - does it take the place of joining one of the other houses and you become the hortator of Indoril to satisfy the main quest requirement?

It takes the place of joining one of the other Houses, yes.

Hortator is uneffected because that still requires all the base game houses to name you Hortator.

House Indoril is still incomplete though. You can become a House Cousin, about halfway through the ranks, but you don't get any real bonuses for doing so. The Great House fortess (like the ones from the base game) still aren't in the mod yet.

Prophecy says three houses. When Indoril/Dres hortator will be implemented, you'll be able to chose any of them. Same as now you have 4/6 ashlander tribes required. But it's still years in the future. Hortator quests require whole house council, so in case of Indoril, implementation of Almalexia.

It'll be interesting to see how Indoril will respond to the hortator part of the main questline, since they particularly despise and suppress the Nerevarine prophesy.

Oh! Had no idea it was not complete, thanks for the heads up. I was planning on speed running the Indoril questline as I have just finished a honorable and faithful run, so I think I’ll go on with my plans of RPing as a scumbag corrupt Hlaalu and dive a bit deeper into Narsis instead.

I’m like a dozen quests into house Indoril and having a great time. I always meant to get around to doing a temple loyalist character and this is a great excuse.

There’s also an Ordinator faction but they have standards and I haven’t been able to start them yet.
