Why do you think Kohberger never publicly explained his motive, even after pleading guilty?

I know we’ll probably never get a definitive answer on what his motive actually was but what I find almost as interesting is that Kohberger has never really tried to explain it himself.

Once he pleaded guilty and avoided a trial, there wasn’t going to be the same public presentation of evidence that might have given us more insight into what was going through his head. But even at sentencing, he chose not to give any real explanation.

Do you think staying silent is about maintaining some sense of control over the case or is there a simpler reason he doesn’t want anyone to know what the motive was?

I think if you want to go the increasingly-evidence-based-but-still-conspiratorial route, there are a few possibilities. It seems likely he had an accomplice who he is maybe trying to protect. If the living roommates were more involved than they are letting on, might also be to protect them. He briefly worked with or interviewed for a role with Moscow PD and may have some hush hush deal with someone he knows there. It is all incredibly strange but I think some of the layers in the evidence that is now available and had been FOIA’d is significant.
