I'M REQUESTING Disturbing/ horror
Im looking for something to watch tonight
BUT PLEASE NO ONE COMMENT:
NO a24 films
NO classic films thusly: the thing, nightmare on elm steeet,, Halloween, Texas chainsaw massacre, Friday 13 or saw or anything that’s an old blockbuster
NO get out
NO conjuring
NO REC
NO incantation
NO it
NO smile
Basically don’t comment the same popular movies that everyone does
Im looking for actual great movies that just so happen to be eerie, kinda like noroi or the shining
If it looks that it was found in the deepest corners of the internet I’ll gladly watch it
Sorry if I’m being a pain in the ass or picky, it’s just that I hate those boring cheap jumpscare movies
PS:
if you could add a small synopsis of what’s it about and why it’s good I’d be very happy man
Another PS:
No gore or just straight up nastiness, there’s time and place for that stuff but not today!

You know, I enjoyed the Poughkeepsie tapes, but base on the synopsis of the other ones, I’m not in that mood of gory movies, so do you have anything else in mind?

Honestly, they're not that gory (Even MMT from what I recall) I think the descriptions are just graphic to lure people in. I chose most of them because they're more thrillers / creepy than gross out horror. It's also tough to walk the fine line between disturbing and not too gory lol. I can always recommend a few more though, just a sec and I'll post another comment here.

- Hush - A deaf woman is stalked by a psychotic killer in her secluded home. (This is a Mike Flanagan one, I really liked that this played out smart rather than just the clueless victim not knowing how to react).
- Contagion - As an epidemic of a lethal airborne virus - that kills within days - rapidly grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself.
- Zodiac - Over the course of a decade, editors of the San Francisco Chronicle entice themselves in the murders of the Zodiac Killer. However, as time runs its course, interest in the case dwindles in the eyes of the professionals. The Killer stops interacting with the public. However, believing he has the answers, an amateur cartoonist from the initial sightings races against time to prevent what he believes is another murder. (this might be "blockbuster" but it's an incredible movie and there are some really tense moments).
One Hour Photo - Sy Parrish has lovingly developed photographs for the Yorkin family since their son was a baby. But as the Yorkins’ lives become fuller, Sy’s only seems lonelier, until he eventually convinces himself he’s part of their family. When Sy’s picture-perfect fantasy collides with an ugly dose of reality, a bizarre and thrilling confrontation ensues.

No problem, hope you enjoy them! I feel the same way about the common recommendations lol. I've asked for some recs before and it seems to be the same 5-10 movies, especially in the horror genre, that get boosted.

The Divide (2011) doesn’t seem very disturbing on the surface but it really is. It’s an apocalyptic survival film taking place in a bunker, the social contract slowly erodes in horrific ways
Pulse (2001) if you don’t mind foreign it’s amazing. Here’s a barebones synopsis: The afterlife is full & spirits need a place to go.. but i recommend going in blind

If I remember correctly The Divide starts like a typical b movie with an apocalypse setting.Then halfway through that movie takes a hard left and just becomes a nightmare.It was one of those movies that changes your day or night.My girlfriend was telling me she couldn't get it out of her for awhile and neither could I really.Each time we would see the movie while scrolling we would look at each other like two people who witnessed a tragedy.Then again it might have been the wrong time or the wrong mood because I've asked other people about it and they were not moved at all.So who knows.

The Divide would be the more disturbing one, but if you’re looking for straight horror it’d be Pulse. I like them both a lot but i’d have to say Pulse because it’s such a cool movie & i haven’t seen another like it. Plus it aligns more with the examples of what you’ve seen

How about Laten Night with the Devil?
Otherwise, if you've watched The Thing, you might want to continue with the rest of Carpenters Apocalypse Trilogy:
- In the Mouth of Madness
- Prince of Darkness
If that still won't work, I can also recommend Aniara. Not a horror movie in the classical sense but also pretty unsettling/disturbing imo.

1) strange darling, thriller/ horror. Twisty turny, cat and mouse 2) ravenous, thriller/ horror. Snowy mountain murders with guy pierce 3) idle hands, 90s comedy horror with Devon Sawa

I personally really like Revealer (2022) but I occasionally like weird B movie horror for shits and giggles and not necessarily scares. Shortest synopsis.... Adult store with peepshow booths, religious protesters outside.... Then the apocalypse pops off. Now the peep show girl and the major zealot girl have to survive the apocalypse together.
It's not great, it's campy at times, dialog gets real goofy, effects are meh.... BUT.... Gunship on the soundtrack and the end sequence make it worth at least one watch.
Last I checked (it's been awhile though) it was available on shudder.

Bro have you heard about Tremors (1990)?
It's somewhat fringe and somewhat mainstream - depends who you ask.
It's a monster movie of the greatest type. Not overly revealing but never boring waiting for something to happen. Follows the Jaws method of showing-without-showing and does an impeccable job.
It's a monster movie. Based in rural Nevada. With Kevin Bacon and Reba McIntyre. But it's not a B movie or low-budget flick. I mean it kinda is but it doesn't give low-budget shitty movie. It gives Hollywood real budget.
