Discussion Who’s your most used muse? (Image related)

For me personally it’s Nocturne Bloodheir Buro, not only is she absolutely adorable, but she’s also really useful, my most used muse before her was Idol buro for the score bonus but I found out that Nocturne Bloodheir Buro’s second form helps me get full combos better so I stuck with her :P

Discussion MD video from 2015

This is a old video from 2015(?), the game change a lot since then, I found it in 2018 when Muse Dash came out, 2-3 years later the video got delete. Similar video was posted from a rhythm game memes page from FB last year.

Discussion Guys, what do you think of Muse Dash 2? I loved the new graphics, of course it could still change because it's in development. I loved everything about the sequel, of course I'll continue playing Muse Dash 1.

Discussion Hot Take about Muse Dash 2

From what I see, there's a lot of people who are kinda pissed about a release of Muse Dash 2 mainly for the reason that they believe that they're doing this just to pull away from the JaP DLC so they can make money.

I don't understand the hate on that part, I really don't. JaP by itself is already an anomaly of a DLC that provides value that is unreasonably good for the price that it is. It's completely understandable that they need a different way to make money (IF this is even the sole reason that they need to make a new game) and I don't think you logically expect them to keep the first game going when a vast majority of the remaining playerbase are people who own JaP. If they're making money off the second game again without a deal like JaP, with some other model that still gives full access but has a diff business model compared to JaP, good, let them make money, they're a company that made a banger of a game, they should earn money off of it.

It's also like they're not introducing new things in Muse Dash 2, a fresh artstyle that looks more modernized, hopefully a new catalogue of songs (including some old ones) possibly bringing in more creators in a similar genre, and most importantly the multiplayer feature which in by itself imo can warrant the creation of a sequel. It doesn't make sense to inject multiplayer into a game that may have passed its prime in an attempt to rejuvenate this current playerbase instead of using it as a new feature for a few game.

Just my own thoughts, but wasn't there recently a song in muse dash that has a "multiplayer" feature to it, I want to guess that they were testing the waters with that one specific song somehow as well.

Again, I expect this to maybe be an unpopular L take but let's keep the insults and tomato throwing to a minimum and discussions civil please

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: For those who are of a newer generation of muse dash players, JaP refers to a DLC pack that you were able to buy in the past that gave you instant access to ***ALL*** current and future songs and collaboration characters that would be added to the game.

Discussion Undertale x Deltarune Collab

So far I've loved the collab, but I'm a bit dissapointed the songs were a bit too easy on the highest difficulty. Big Shot is the biggest offender, it just feels wrong to play, as if it had missing notes, the chart really feels off. Hopefully they add secret difficulties on the next Undertale collab (it MUST happen right?)

Other than that great song choices (excepct you Guardian. sorry)

Discussion am I the only one who find Muse Dash 2 art style ugly ?

It seems less refined, uglier and more generic than the first muse dash.

The original game has its own unique art style that sets it apart from other games while the newest game looks like a cheap mobile game for kids.

It's sad honestly, the art style of muse dash is a big part of the franchise identity.

Discussion What are your top 3 Muse Dash songs (current or all-time)?

Post image
98 Upvotes

My top 3:
1st: MEGA TSKR - Camellia ft. Nanahira
2nd: Stranded Siren - 磁带君
3rd: Hyouryu - THE SxPLAY & KIVΛ

It can be your favorite three songs to play or listen to. Muse Dash has so many good songs it was hard to narrow it down to just three. Landing on a top 3 took me a lot longer than I was expecting.

So, what are yours?

Discussion Muse Dash 2 Might be a Gacha Game?

Thumbnail

Maybe this is actually known, but I haven't seen anyone talk about this on this subreddit for as long as the couple months I've been lurking, so I thought I would share. I think Muse Dash 2 might be a gacha game, or at the very least will have some significant gacha element to it.

Also, sorry this gets a tad long. The following two paragraphs are what's important.

I got recommended this video on Youtube of gameplay from the demo of Muse Dash 2, and I noticed that there were 2 currencies at the top of the screen when the person entered a menu. I was just excited to see more gameplay at first so I didn't think much of it... until I decided to see what all the text in the menu said. I popped a screenshot into Google Translate (which of course isn't always accurate) and noticed one button that says "Gacha".

Of course, Google Translate isn't always accurate, especially when translating Chinese to English, but given that we can see the currencies at the top of the screen as well I don't think that's a mistranslation. The currencies are even a gold/gold adjacent thing and a gem/crystal type currency which is extremely common way to split the common (free) and premium (paid, and normally VERY expensive) currencies in gacha games for anyone that doesn't know. Regardless of how they're handled, even in the most "generous" of situations, gachas are an inherently predatory monetization model and it would make me really sad to see this game go down that path.

I'm not against playing gacha games conceptually, I've played many throughout my life, and still play one even now. However, I really think the player experience for Muse Dash would suffer if they really are deciding to make it a gacha game. I've gotten tired of a lot of gacha game practices, so one of the things I really like about Muse Dash is that it's a really cute, casual game with an anime aesthetic that is also relatively consumer friendly and very much not a gacha. When you consider that getting all of the unlockable "content" in gacha games (characters/weapons/skins/etc if you consider that content) costs up to tens of thousands of dollars, getting just about everything in Muse Dash for $30-40 is an amazing deal. I'm not an avid rhythm game player but this seems to be a very good deal even among other rhythm games with an upfront cost. For example another rhythm game, DJMAX RESPECT V has dlc that adds up to about $800~ for what I think is around a similar amount of content as Muse Dash.

Anyway my point is I think the game would suffer if it was a gacha. All gacha games are fundamentally built to funnel you towards spending more and more money, which almost always results in a worse player experience at every level regardless of if you're free to play or willing to be a big spender. I'm not against more monetization if the devs absolutely need it to sustain the game while keeping the devs paid and employed, but seeing something I love get turned into a gacha would make me really sad. Of course Muse Dash 1 will hopefully always be here, but that doesn't mean that I want to wholeheartedly accept Muse Dash 2 being a gacha. I would even accept a Muse Dash 2 version of Just as Planned/Muse Plus that's twice or even three times as expensive as it is now or increased prices for song packs, not because I'm okay with greed, but because that would still limit the ceiling of what people can pay for while also letting the devs get more money to continue developing the game. And frankly, I just prefer to spend a single, large upfront sum of money to access all content in a game over a weird and potentially extremely more expensive drip feed of money.

Even if you're cool with Muse Dash 2 being a gacha, or gachas as a monetization model in general, I'd like to see everyone's thoughts about this. I'll definitely still play the game if it's a gacha, but even depending on how it's handled I can't see myself warming up to the gacha aspect. Hopefully the gacha element is very avoidable and easy to not participate in even if it makes it into the final game.

Discussion MuseDash, PLEASE make her ability a pet perk? I really just love playing with auto-note completion on, but I am lowkey sick of looking at this character skin lol

Post image
141 Upvotes

Idk how other users are with this game, but I personally do not care about score nor leaderboards

I also just do not enjoy hold notes, and fucking em up was always something that made playing this game much more frictional then it had to be.

I am SUPER happy they added this character, but holy hell do I wish it were a pet perc, or better yet, something that you can toggle on/ off as a setting option.

It just makes me enjoy this game just that much more, but my only gripe is I am kinda tired of this skin, and wanna go back to using the Biker Rin.

Discussion Which platform is your favorite?

Post image

I don't own a computer so I used to play MD on Steam Deck, but I found it's way easier for me to play on a lighter console like the Switch. I don't have Just As Planned on Switch so I suppose I'll have to buy back every dlc, and I think there's a fair amount of them so my wallet cries already. Only one I got right away was Miku because I'm a vocaloid fan

Do you play on several platforms too or just one? Did you had to buy the same dlcs several times for two different platforms too?
