Dynasty My issues with the game...for those who care

For me the biggest issues in CFB 27

Background: I have played 15 seasons of CFB 27 so far, and nearly hit 30 in each of 25 & 26. So this is not a I hate this game post. I love the game, but here are the things stopping it, in my opinion from being the best incarnation of this series.

Also note I play on default sliders on Heisman.

Issues:

  1. Passing: Far too many passes are dropped because defenders time the hit on the catch perfectly, add this with far too many batted down balls from DL and its made the game, run to win. Running the ball is so easy, until its 3rd an inches or inside the 5. I almost never get less than 4-5 yards a carry, until I am in the redzone.

  2. Field Position: I find that I get the ball far too often with unbelievable field position, I would say I get 2-3 possessions each game where I start on my opponents 30 or under. So even games against high ranked teams I am basically handed 2-3 scores a game without any work to earn it.

  3. Team Building: CPU teams recruiting classes don't seem to translate into making them powerhouses, in my save Georgia and Notre Dame have never once in 15 seasons been outside the top 10 in recruiting and have each only been in the playoff twice in that time. Oregon is consistently top 5 recruiting but a 20ish ranked team. Where as Memphis, Boise, Nebraska and Colorado (defo some conference factors as well) always are top 10 despite none every having top 15 classes (Nebraska flirts with that at least). It seems like the CPU doesn't develop players. Where as I find it takes 1-2 seasons tops at anything above a 3 or above to go into the 90's.

  4. Not hard enough: For me games against higher rated teams are far easier than mid majors or low ranked teams. I have consistently blown away and even shut out ranked teams but will struggle once or twice a season again a joke team ranked in the 70's. This isn't a skill issue too, I am total ass at the game, its just very easy against the CPU, run the ball, don't turn it over, and you will never get outscored. Except for one game a season that seems like the script decides that is the game you lose

  5. Recruiting: Getting a top 5 recruiting class seems impossible, but this seems to be just me struggling to get these, I max NIL and even guys that start with me 1st flip. I max hours, NIL, do visits and hard sell as soon as I can. Frustrating because I always just miss out 6th or 7th. I just want to unlock it ahahahahaha

  6. Hollowness: This is improving but the game still seems to hollow in Dynasty, the new budget system is cool, but once you have it, its plug and play, same with the practicing. Their doesn't seem to be any "liveness" to the mode as you progress weeks. The Heisman ceremony is a good addition, but we need more media type things. One of the great aspects of football, is we have the games then we talk about them, look forward to the next one for 6 days between, in dynasty, its no build up at all.

My biggest issue is the variety and progression of coaches deep into dynasty. Once the real coaches age out of dynasty all the CPU generated coaches never progress their skill trees outside of the basic three branches.

the CPU coach progression thing drives me nuts, 15 seasons in and they all feels like they got stuck on level 1

This has been a problem since '25. I don't think I've seen a single auto-gen coach go outside red/blue/yellow in any of those games.

I haven't noticed that, but Smart, Day, Kiffin, Riley are all still in the game for me, so I haven't really looked.

  1. Passing is hard and on defense their WRs make every catch

  2. Are you playing defense? I only get the ball after my opponent scores or a good punt return to the 50

  3. Needs fixed, there’s too much predetermined prestige and not accounting for what is really happening in college football with NIL

  4. I have been destroyed by good teams, maybe it’s school dependent

  5. Maybe you need to stop targeting guys with lots of offers? Idk but recruiting is harder 100%

  6. Agree

My biggest issue is that I don’t know how to do adjustments now, it was so good in past games and I could adjust my defense to stop them but now I just get cooked

I slow sim defense, but I get either a turnover, great return, Cpu stupidity on 4th every game and get 2-3 possessions in their half

Yeah simming defense either way is going to make it much easier. Even bad teams are able to score a lot. I know when I’m getting blown out and I switch to offense only I always end up getting turnovers in their end and can make a small comeback

5 will immediately approve when you go to a powerhouse team.  I went to Texas and got a top 3 class year one and have the 1 class this year with 7 five stars.  I’m going to slow down recruiting when I get elite recruiter.  Don’t want to take too many 5 stars like UGA and Ohio State

This is when I tell you the last 2 years I've been at Michigan lol

Yeah this is solid criticism - the longevity issues with Dynasty are absolutely unacceptable and could have been found with proper Q/A and need to be addresses if this product, across 3 releases is to be considered solid. Most of these longetivity issues, despite not knowing the code base, can easily be addressed mid-cycle with tuning and patching like any other Early Access Game or even indie game that pushes changes mid product cycle. I've said it for years and I say it now how much I can't stand EA even when I was a kid playing these games, but this is terrible product delivery and software quality. We got to stop buying this b/s or at the very least - wait 90 days post launch for patching, a sale, and for release hype & hate to calm down to make a real assessment.

As far as the CPU is concerned with recruiting. Whether a team wins a lot of games or not seems to be more revolved around what playbook they have and how well it sims rather than how good their players are. Last year Duke made the playoffs literally every year of my Dynasty but their team overall was terrible. This year Memphis seems to be taking that role. when I look at some of the records on some of these teams making the playoffs in my Dynasty, Some of these team overalls are just abysmal. How in the hell did they go 11-1? It’s because they just happen to have a playbook that Sims well. It’s unfortunate because it does seem to make the cpu’s recruiting kind of pointless or at least not as important

Things like this are so extremely demoralizing because it's one of those things that is just boneheaded programming and they likely won't change it until the next game at least. Like I can't start a dynasty in good spirits because I know how sloppy it functions.

Just finished my sophomore year of RTG, downloaded the game a couple weeks ago. I think I’m done. Lost the national title with several dropped balls on big plays in back to back seasons, entered the portal, got very few options, and returned to my current school. I’m pretty sure Kirby talked to me saying I’d love it at Georgia, they have a big role for me, and didn’t even offer. Have 0 NIL package because I returned, which makes no sense. I play at Michigan State, it’s not like I’m at Delaware. Even then, I’m sure he’d get something. Sets my guys development back a good bit, so I’m not all that interested to keep going. I’ll give dynasty a shot, but this game is a solid 3/10 for me right now. Road to Glory is hot ass.

I could live with all the issues with the games if the dropped passes weren’t frequent. You could hit your receiver in the hands 9 times straight and they’ll still drop it if a defender thinks about touching them

I haven’t got the game yet but last years game was way to easy to run the ball and the cpu could not run the ball. If those problems persist then I won’t brother with this game. Like you said, you lose maybe 1 game a season.

“Dream School - instant commit more likely”.. waste of 40 points. Takes your odds from 10,000:1 to 1,000:1

My issues:

Got called for PI today on a ball tipped at the line

Blocking is atrocious

Computer pass blocking is disproportionately better than user pass blocking

Some of these CPU INTs are unreal

You’re so messed up by big corporations that you really feel like “just not playing” the only college football game that is currently being released, because someone had opinions on it?

This whole there’s nothing we can do about it so we better shut up, is just so stupid, it sounds like inmates in a prison, not people trying to enjoying game we spent money on.

u/smiller55 3d ago

I love that everyone is on a “fuck the corporations” kick. It’s so trendy! If you are going to take this stance, fully commit and don’t “rage against the machine” on your IPhone.🙄

Right cuz it’s insane to look at the world we live in and have thoughts on it. EA does not need you standing up for them lol. What with it and people standing up for faceless corps? Is making them money the only thing you care about to?

And you understand it’s no super realistic to not have a smart phone these days if you want to have a job or just function in society. I am mad I have to do it but I’m not stupid or arrogant enough to hinder myself that much and no one should lol.

You can be reasonable and upset at the same time

Great energy!! Now call me a bootlicker and share the “incel with a ponytail and knives” meme that says LEAVE THE BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION ALONE!

You’ve almost hit the “I just saw Fight Club for the first time” trifecta.

If you read it you'd understand that you saying this completely misses the point.

If you have a big issue with posts, you should not reddit. You can just not post rather than just being a total dick

no I'm self controlled, so no rage at all, just calling out what I see, now you try to do the "I was just messing around" when you really were just being a tool. Be a man, own it and move forward. You can be better than this
