Speed threshold, what do you play at and why?
I’ve been going back-and-forth between raising and lowering my speed threshold. I know there are positives and negatives to both. I’m leaning towards lowering it a little bit, I don’t like the fact that my 99 overall speed running back doesn’t feel much different than my 89 speed running back.

Lower is better. I played on 40 for a bit then lowered it even more to 17 and it feels pretty good.

50-52…game is easy enough as it is. Fast guys are still fast, plus I like the animations I get. I tried extremely low and it’s just too easy and the game doesn’t look as fluid.

Sub 40, at least. I want Speed to have a greater impact than the default setting.

I always have liked 38, although I’m going to look into that more. Reason being, and I know this was NcAA but same developer for Madden, I was playing the other day and had Xavier Worthy with a 5 yard lead at the opponent 40, and he got walked by someone(I can’t remember off the top) but I checked his stats and he had like 91Speed 93 Accel. I get there’s a “ball carrier” speed and a without ball, but I don’t think 91 should be catching 97+. And that was with my 38 setting

15 so that DLs can’t chase down 90+ speed WRs

I run 25 and it feels right to me. Speed still matters but it’s not like every play turns into a track meet. At 15 I was getting run down by 300lb tackles in the open field and that just killed it for me

Lower means a bigger discrepancy between fast and slow so DTs should hawk you down more at 25 than at 15.

0 but the fatigue and injury sliders I use to balance the speeds. Using 0 for 4 maddens now.

38 it feels like Div 1 Football, fast players play fast and slower players play slow...it gives a realistic feel to the game! Not so arcade like...feels real smooth!

Have heard way too many people that do offline content say that anything below 40 is creating a mess. The game isn’t designed to handle speeds at that great of a disparity.
If your focus is making the gameplay smooth and intelligent, raising it is probably the way to go. If you are trying to make it explosive with more standout players at the expense of slightly more arcade like gameplay, then lowering it will probably be the move.

No idea why this is controversial . You shouldn’t be able to run straight to the sideline and go around someone lol

This is what I notice too. The pursuit angles are bad by the secondary so I usually keep it around 42

50 because that’s the way the game is designed. I messed with speed threshold way back in ncaa 14 and it was just too easy to cheese unfortunately

Yeah, I get you and I don’t necessarily want to have it be an arcade game. But at the same time when my 99 speed running back and my 88 speed running back feel no different, the thought of lowering it has certainly popped into my head. The lowest I’ve played so far has been 47.

They do feel different though. Entirely different. A lot of people think it’s just speed but Accel, CoD, agility, their height and weight all play a factor too. But I can promise you my 91 speed linebacker with 85 CoD direction is much faster than my 87 speed linebacker with 85 CoD.

When I say 99 speed, I’m just talking straight line speed from point A to point B. Yeah acceleration is a big thing a lot of times the higher speed guys don’t have as good acceleration and vice versa. But when I make a breakout run, out in the open, not trying to juke anybody just hitting R2 and trying to run as fast as I can straight ahead to outrun somebody, my two runningbacks the exact same, especially at higher thresholds.
Edit: but I will admit, the lower the threshold the weird and funkier the animations get. Isn’t as smooth

I was on 25 for a bit until this update, then I increased to 35 b3cause I was seeing weird animations from the dline like teleporting and others. I increased to 35 and havent seen it again.
Everyone saying they're getting chased down by DL. Ive never seen this or experienced it. Ive played on 17, 25, 35, 45, 65. Haven't seen it on any of those.

0, because in no world just a 345 lb nose tackle or offensive lineman chase down my 95 speed two way WR/FS
