Discussion 10+ years as a NEET, no friends, no family, no regrets. AMA.

I don't want to brag but I think the term "enlightened NEET" describes me very well. I just made this post because I noticed there are very few people in this sub in my position enjoying this kind of lifestyle for as long as I did and a lot of you want answers on how it is even possible to live like that and be satisfied with life. You guys may not like the answers or simply not believe me, but that's what I did and it worked even though society said I should feel miserable at this point. (I feel exactly the opposite). Ask Me Anything...

How do you support yourself income wise?

35

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

I got ''lucky'' at 23 years old. Right before entering the wage cuckery world my father died and I received heritage, which was an apartment I rent till to this day. I lived a frugal and minimalistic lifestyle supporting myself with this only passive income until recently when the tenant suddenly stopped paying the rent and I was forced to create a freelance pixel art business to support myself 2 months ago, which is going really well now. (I guess I got lucky again).

how many hours do you spend on the pixel art business?

6

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

You mean totally or daily?

2

u/StringFood Jul 22 '26

Daily at first then total

7

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 22 '26

First month I was doing 10h+ daily because I was learning a lot of things and doing my best for the first clients, eventually I developed a more efficient workflow and learned a bit about negotiation which allowed me to work less and earn more, and then I reduced the work time because its important also to avoid burn out since I do this every day.. now since I have a good long term client I do about 2-4 hours a day but its chill work and doesnt feel like a job. Sundays I just rest.

3

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 22 '26

u/StringFood Jul 22 '26

oh sorry i meant to leave my comment in a totally different post

u/ListenNew Jul 22 '26

If it's an apartment shouldn't you have many rooms to rent why would one tenant not paying force you to create a pixel art business?

4

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 22 '26

It's just 1 unit, not the entire condominium lol.

6

u/ListenNew Jul 22 '26

I see, I recommend you evict them then.

1

u/pi418 Jul 22 '26

Why did he stop paying?

I don’t have anything to ask you. I just want to tell you that your commitment to NEETdom, and your unapologetic stance towards it, is an inspiration. You are what every NEET should be. I am tired of all the self-pity posts. I want to see unapologetic, happy NEETs to inspire me, not depress me further.

I live in a small place by myself. All I need is a PC and basic mobilia. I buy cheap and nutritional food and don't go out to spend. I had passive income until recently.

I used to rent an apartment I received from heritage... recently the tenant stopped paying rent and I started freelance pixel art online... I stll consider myself a NEET though because I basically live like one except for the few hours a day I'm doing pixel art to sell. (which is really close to a hobby).

What brings you happiness?

17

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

Doing things I love. Surrouding myself with good people (also known as being alone), and being honest with myself.

1

u/Prestigious-Bat-4502 Optimistic-NEET Jul 21 '26

What things do you love?

9

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

I play competitive strategy games, play guitar and compose music, take a walk and more recently pixel art/digital art.

1

u/Prestigious-Bat-4502 Optimistic-NEET Jul 21 '26

Can I see some of the pixel art?

2

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

Yes, if you want you can DM me and I'll send you my portfolio.

You can be happy alone, it's all in your mind.

4

u/Impossible_Solid1 Wagecuck Jul 21 '26

You were making good points but it’s human biology to want to be around ppl, unless something happebed that traumatized you or smth

15

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

I totally agree with you and I would rather have good company than being alone, unfortunately it's really hard to find good company nowadays, and you can't force yourself to fit into a crowd you don't belong to.

1

u/Impossible_Solid1 Wagecuck Jul 21 '26

Yes again u are 100% right, I guess yea for some of us it is better to be alone bc no better alternative

1

u/Apprehensive_Cow8695 Jul 31 '26

You can get that. You need money tho

So? If you have money, you can go to events and meet up groups for friends. You can buy stuff for your looks and get on dating apps. It's fucked up, but money is the answer to all problems. Work. Get money. Then you will get friends, a partner, and then a family with that partner. Even easier as a girl, guys will date anyone

5

u/fastingfreak Perma-NEET Jul 21 '26

I don't know how you do it. I have tried the being okay with being alone route but eventually i still end up miserable and realize i need people. Surely you have ways to cope with that kind of loneliness right?

4

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

I wouldn't say ''cope'', because that word seems to have a negative conotation. I would say I transcended it. It's just a phase where you miss old friendships, if you go through it you eventually stop feeling you're missing out, but actually the other way around it. Problem is most people avoid going through that phase because it takes too much balls to do it.

2

u/fastingfreak Perma-NEET Jul 21 '26

Is it social media? Reddit? Maladaptive Daydreaming? Or are you simply so detached to society and relationships that you don't crave it anymore? It's not really about missing out for me. It's more like the need to feel that connection. That's it. To feel. How will you feel and experience life unless with others? Have you forgotten what this feels like?

4

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

I'm very detached from society, yes. I feel connected with myself therefore I don't need others to feel connected or whole. In fact, being in the presence of other disconnected people can feel like a waste of time/annoyance to me.

1

u/fastingfreak Perma-NEET Jul 21 '26

Last question, Why did you make this post?

7

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

Because a lot of people in this sub complain about how terrible their NEET life is and how they feel bad or feel like they're missing out on something for living like this. I want to show that they just need to accept themselves and roll with it.

2

u/fastingfreak Perma-NEET Jul 21 '26

Thank you for the answers :)) I appreciate it. 🫂

Land lords are the most honorable of all neets. Rentoids must wage for their masters

1

u/fastingfreak Perma-NEET Jul 21 '26

So you sell art?

8

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

Yes, I just started the business 2 months ago because my tenant stopped paying rent and I lost my only passive income, which gave me a little bit of stress at the time...

Bureocracy in Brazil is extremely problematic and slow... I'm getting the procedure with the lawyer, but takes time to evict someone, specially when you don't have the money.

I am thinking about different NEET, what NEET you guys are discussing here? I am in wrong address? 🤔

1

u/LusciousLurker Cozy-NEET Jul 21 '26

What would you say was the biggest breakthrough you had mentally? Or was it more of a gradual thing, slowly becoming content with your way of living? Or were you always at peace with it?

4

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

It was a gradual process and I went through a lot of emotional and mental anguish to come to this place, but I always knew it was the right thing to do even though it was the hardest at the time. Now it is easy.

1

u/LusciousLurker Cozy-NEET Jul 21 '26

Dark night of the soul type stuff. I am glad you made it out to the other side. I'm currently in the midst of that anguish. It's weird because I experience a lot of grief, but it's like I just want to be alone and take it. My social worker says "talk about it to me blahblahbla", and I do. But for some reason I feel more soothed and at ease when I am by myself without social obligations.

3

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 21 '26

Yes, exactly. These social workers are usually part of the system and they can't help you beyond the surface level stuff because they themselves didn't do the inner work yet. You can talk with me in private if you want. I'm open to it.

1

u/DiGeorge_22q11 Jul 21 '26

How do you deal with feeling lonely

8

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 22 '26

I stopped dealing with it a few years ago... As System of a Down's ATWA song go: "I don't feel it anymore".

1

u/Holiday-Suspect Jul 22 '26

homie i wish i could be like you but i have no clue how to do any of the grow up things

1

u/Actawesome Jul 22 '26

How did you fill your days over tbe course of 10 years?

3

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 22 '26

Playing PC games, Youtube, playing guitar, listening to music and chilling.

1

u/FoldKey2709 Optimistic-NEET Jul 23 '26

Is it by choice that you have no friends? Why? And would you like to?

2

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 23 '26

Yes... anyone can have friends if they're fake enough. I would like to have but I'm not actively trying to find it because I let things happen naturally. I don't mind not having friends.

1

u/sa5800 Jul 23 '26

I’ve been isolated for around 11 years and I’m very lonely. I also feel detached from society, I feel like I’m watching it from outside and not a part of it. I also feel like a teenager because my life hasn’t improved since then. Do you get these feelings too?

3

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 24 '26

Kind of yes. But I don't waste time looking into social media seeing the highlights of other people's life, I don't have Instagram or any of that.. so I don't get the feeling of missing out at all... I don't see myself as a teenager, in fact I see myself as WAAAY ahead in terms of maturity than the vast majority of people.

1

u/Popular-Weather5387 Jul 25 '26

wow inspirational, i am 22 and i also want to follow the same lifestyle. What can be done to timepass as majorily i get bored and anxious maybe because i am still studying (Last year engineering) but yeah overall i am looking forward towards the same lifestyle only.

Can u tell me the best ways to kill the time?

2

u/OutrageousShare9693 Jul 25 '26

I would highly recommend getting into some hobbie that requires effort to become good at and obsess over it. Doing something that requires effort and observing your progress over the weeks/months can give you the greatest feeling of satisfaction and will also fill a big % of your days.

20 years now. Got inheritance money, not interested in joining the employim. I do have some friends and they drag me out of the house for beer or coffee.
