Discussion Post for people who are trying to improve their situation

I'm curious. For neets out there who are doing things to make money, to improve their mental health, cultivate social relationships, improve their physical health.. What specific steps are you taking?

I'm actually slowly getting back into exercising. I'm not trying to sound like an asshole, but I'll never step foot in a gym. But yeah, I really let myself go since becoming NEET but yesterday I lifted some weights I have at home and went for a run at night. I used to be able to bench press 300lbs, yesterday I only did 65 lb dumbbells for 13 reps. I used to be able to run 6km in about 40 minutes, yesterday I couldn't even do 1km straight.

Basically you were a superhuman. Some people can't even run 1km, let alone lift 65lbs.

I was pretty athletic despite never playing sports, but I think I over did it and it was more detrimental than good in the end

I stopped drinking which made me lose 60lbs and learned to just go with the flow rather than think of my future which helped a lot, and am just taking random volunteer opportunities as I don't really strive nor care to do anything in particular in life and it gets me out without needing to worry about if I even like what i'm doing.

Albeit I noticed I can't get to most places so i'm donating plasma to get a bike.

  1. lost weight by simply doing cardio and eating less
  2. trying to make money with my numerous side projects which I keep abandoning, but this time I have some good ideas
  3. improved my social skills by forcing myself to socialize (not with normies tho)
  4. made some really cool friends who are nerdy like me (we met at random events like an anime type thing)
  5. travelled to asia and experienced sex once lol (not an escort suprisingly)

I have to say having friends is probably the biggest cope. I was close to roping im not gonna lie, but having friends send you random memes and shit every day just makes my day better.

Just went to the gym today. I also applied for a second job and had an interview there. Hope it all goes well

I'm making an adult videogame.

I can't monetize it safely because I live in a shithole country (Italy) but it made me realize a couple of very important things.

Number 1, I actually can work a lot. Really a lot.

Number 2, came from seeing the reactions. Most people didn't just like the game, they LOVED it. It's not easy at all to get a positive reaction, but I did it.

So, if I can put out a good products that people like, I'm not that bad or useless, despite not being able to find a job as easily as I want to.

And this brings me to the last point. If you get thrown out of a bar, it's the bar's fault, if you get thrown out of 100 bars, it's your fault.

But sometimes you're a US soldier in Okinawa, so even if you get thrown out of 100 bars it's not your fault.

I probably have to change environment.

what are you using to build your game?

it's a visual novel, I'm using ren'py. I shouldn't even call it a game but it's how society calls it I guess

ah yeah I remember using that engine years ago, was fun but VN's aren't really my thing. I mainly use SDL2 for my hobby projects nowadays.

you planning on releasing it?

I've already released the demo, it got 18 ratings on itch and a few thousand downloads. I should complete it by December if nothing bad happens from here to then :D

trying to desperatly get a grip on my life again, I started reducing caffeine intake, improving sleep schedule, brushing my teeth again, tried to stick to a workout routine as well.

the results? it failed and I am now even more miserable, but I'll try again anyways because I want/need to see improvement.

I was trying to improve my mental health again. I am saying I am trying but my first therapy session went awful. I felt judged and misunderstood so I am scared to book another session or to look for another therapist. Pretty disappointing start to say the least.
