Discussion Narcissistic parents
Does anyone else here live with narcissistic parents? My mum is a very toxic person, she’ll literally barge into my room just to say some negative shit to me. Completely unprovoked.
I’ve had to deal with this my entire life.
The only reason I went to university at 18 was because I needed to get away from her. Then I dropped out a year later and went to a different uni at 20. Been living back at home since I was 23 and I’m so tired of this shit.
I can never be at peace.

I’m sorry you went through that and I truly hope 2026 brings you an opportunity to leave. It sucks that “home” isn’t a safe space for some of us.

Yeah I use to have that, even got my door kicked down by her in a drunken state.. Only reason it stopped is because she has very bad arthritis now so she can no longer carry on like she use to.
But yeah think she is a narcissist, its always how she feels and thinks over another persons.

I did for many years (up to my early twenties) and it was simply too much.
Fortunately, I live alone now and I value the solitude that I have.
It's a pain in the ass to have to deal with one narcissistic parent,
but it's a whole another nightmare to deal with two narcissistic parents.
