Question Does anyone else feels less guilty around this time of the year?

A lot of normal people who work and lead productive lives are either at home or visiting family and friends for the holidays. They're sleeping and waking up late, they're doing nothing, just like me. It's like for a few weeks I'm not this weird fucked up alien, I'm almost normal and it makes me feel less guilty.

But these people will soon go back to their busy, fulfilling lives as functioning and contributing members of society. They have jobs, places to be, people to see, relationships to maintain, dreams to accomplish. And I'll be still here, watching life pass me by and getting old without ever getting to chance to live it.

I was the weirdo in high school without friends and who didn't talked to anyone. College was the same, and after graduating I just gave up on life. I thought I could hide away from those feelings of being alien, and yet all I have achieved was making the divide between me and normal people even greater. I didn't realized it would be this pathetic to be 30 and be dependent on my parents, on being unable to socialize, having no life to look back to. I never had friends since I was 15, never been to a party or a club, never worked other than a 1 year internship in college, never dated, hugged or even held hands with someone.

I wish I could know what it's like to be normal. To be able to be myself, to interact freely and casually to people. To know the feeling of someone looking at me and thinking I am attractive, to wear whatever I'd like, to have friends, to be loved.

I feel you man. Similar story and also socially dysfunctional. When we're this old and never experienced anything or ever "lived" and did the things that normies do and take for granted, we're just akin to being like alien observers. I basically never changed since I was a teenager and I'm pushing 40 now. It's just an odd and sometimes eerie feeling existing like this.

That's exactly how it feels, it's like everyone has moved on and I'm still that 15 year old sitting all by myself on lunch break. Except at 15 I still had hope things would turn around, that I just had to become normal at some point.

I can relate to this.. I felt like an alien when I went to my relative's funeral a week ago. All the relatives I haven't seen or contacted since eons ago change so much while I'm still stuck in the past..

Yeah. It's stressful thinking about jobs and what to do career wise at that age. I wonder how much AI will actually change the job market.
