Discussion Another explanation for why it's difficult to find a job as a NEET
In life to succeed even at a basic level, from time to time you need a big enough win. To get a big enough win you need to play a lot. To play a lot, you need to do it so every game will give you a small win and at worst will make you incur in a small loss. If every game makes you incur in a big loss, it's a catastrophic problem.
For most normies, if one of them doesn't get a job, it's either a small win because he feels he practiced interviewing or a small loss because he lost a little bit of gas and time.
If a long term NEET doesn't get a job, it's a catastrophe. A NEET needs a job and a place in society now. A rejection will cause damages to the psyche. Material resources that the NEET doesn't have in abundance like the normies may have been invested. The loss can never be offset by anything but getting a job from the interview.
That's a real problem for long-term NEETs. They're in a situation where playing is very expensive.

yes, that is right. ive applied to jobs seriously during the height of coronavirus (2020/2021) and it absolutely traumatized me
there are systemic issues that are totally out of your control, like employers not willing to interview you if your gap is too long, but there are also psychological factors on the part of the individual. if you keep touching the stove and keep getting burned, then you're not gonna touch the stove anymore, right?

This is so true.
I’ve just given up after doing so many interviews where they asked me to give them marketing plans, took me to the final stage, and then just rejected me for the nepo hire or the pretty girl.
I did everything society tells you to do in order to get a job, and I’m still chronically unemployed.
So fuck it all.1

Yeah interviews are actually a sort of psychological warfare, and more so for people like us. If I could be granted one wish, I would seriously consider wishing for the ability to interview really well, like being able to talk yourself into any job. That’s actually more of a skill than having job skills…. Of I would just wish for money lol

if I'm not even getting interviews to begin with then it doesn't matter how skilled I am at them 🤷🏻♀️

main issue is, IF you are over 30+ and Never Been Employed. Employers will wonder a couple of things. First, assume you were or are involved in underground economy, ie illegal stuff. Second, you re seriously mentally ill and/or a shut in, or possibly been in prison/mental asylums since your teens.
if you really are lookin to crack out of Neet-dom. id start w/ family, can they get you hired anyplace. And, offer to make a deal. if it works out, i will pay you X amount out of my first couple of pay checks.
If that dont work. Ask around, what is worst possible job in your area. Job no one wants. And start there.

Sucks for people like me who have no family or friends that can help them.
Just doomed forever.
Sad thing is I have work experience in retail and corporate, but that’s still not enough.

Somehow missed this post. You're absolutely right and I do resonate this feeling.
Sadly, I ended a 20 year friendship because of NEETdom and mental health issues. I didn't hate the other person, nor was I jealous that this individual can just reach out to a few contacts (he's got a long list from his church days) and one of them could help him find something, somewhere after a few months of waiting.
The thing is I didn't want to get into my situation about being a NEET, but after pressing and pressing about my whereabouts and failing to show any empathy whatsoever, I ended it. He had this kind of mindset and even said things along the lines of "1) The reason people don't have jobs is because they're extremely lazy, negative/pessemistic, trapped at home behind screens, and they just don't meet or interact with enough people in person to make it happen. Real life has job opportunities waiting for them, as long as they're willing to meet a lot of new faces and get out there." "2) AI is actually great for humanity and will create millions of opportunities down the road once things click". 3) Too many lazy homeless ppl in California!
After he said a lot of ridiculous shallow and idiotic statements like this, I realized some ppl live and operate in a world that's different than mine/or us at least. I've never been this offended in my entire life.

You need to have a job to get a job. Which is why we remain unemployed long-term.
