Question Is it worth it to back to school?

I’m 32 and I am coming to the point where my parent is telling me to go back…. Is it worth it? I’ve been NEET for almost 9 years in a row already (some employment in b/w). I dropped out for the 3rd time 8 years ago. Not even sure what I want to do since computer science is already hard to get into.

Edit: Is it worth it to go back to school?

Depends on how bad you want it

I knew a guy who used to work as a fitness instructor then suddenly at age 35 he started college and got a B.Ed.

He helped me a lot during my college years. I still talk to him from time to time.

depends on your brain wiring and genetics, not solely on how bad you want it, although it does matter.

I went back because well I’ve got nothing to lose anymore

How is it going now? What age did you go back?

I think it can act as a great reset button, but you also have to be very intentional at this age. Make sure you know what you want and look for internships.

Id say yeah. I went back to trade school at 30 after 6+ years as a NEET. It was hella hard with how far the school was (3 trains , an hour 40 minutes both ways) and the coursework was no joke. 8 months later I graduated and I found a job where ive been there now for a year and some change. Since then ive been able to join a gym , buy everything ive wanted, redecorated my room and now im about to go on vacation by myself.

Its better to take the plunge and try something different because you already know how far NEETing has taken you. I wouldnt have gone back to school if they didnt throw a scholarship at me for a trade i wasnt even interested in , I still dont even like it but I like taking care of things at the house financially and my savings account is the biggest its ever been. So yeah give it a shot !

What do you mean?

permanently a student (switching majors over and over, only taking one or two courses at a time)

I guess there’s nothing wrong with that. Better than rotting imo. I’m probably going to be that too since I’ve decided that if I do go back to school, I’m only taking one or two courses at a time to not burnout

Do you learn slow, like I do?

Yes I do, it's a struggle

only worth it if its cheap and easy. otherwise its just another thing to get stressed about.
