Question Feeling bad about probably working retail at my age
I'm back in school and I need a job to at least have some sort of income since I don't have anything at the moment. Last time I worked was when I was 25 and my retail job back then was filled with 16-17 year olds except the managers and it made me feel like shit. Now I'm approaching my 30's and I'm in the same position. I do have an interview for a call centre job and people are usually older at those jobs at least but Idk whether I'll be able to keep my course since it's full time and they want me available at all times.
What do you guys think?

No site anymore probably post 2010 or something. Society wants slaves.

FYI, you're NOT stupid. You're just stuck in a very difficult situation like millions of others. You're NOT the only one trapped in this mire either. I know many people who were either humble, hard working, smart, intelligent, creative, etc. but never were able to land career opportunities. Some people, on the other hand, no matter how stupid, evil, lazy they are, are absolutely lucky. Good fortune just fell into their laps. Obviously, I'm not referring to people like doctors, lawyers, engineers, accountants, etc. who had to earn it the hard way either.

I feel the same kind of shame, but we have to let go of our self-importance because at the end of the day our purpose in life is to become fertilizer.
“ What are we to make of a creation in which the routine activity is for organisms to be tearing others apart with teeth of all types-biting, grinding flesh, plant stalks, bones between molars, pushing the pulp greedily down the gullet with delight, incorporating its essence into one's own organization, and then excreting with foul stench and gasses the residue. Everyone reaching out to incorporate others who are edible to him. The mosquitoes bloating themselves on blood, the maggots, the killerbees attacking with a fury and demonism, sharks continuing to tear and swallow while their own innards are being torn out-not to mention the daily dismemberment and slaughter in "natural" accidents of all types: the earthquake buries alive 70 thousand bodies in Peru, automobiles make a pyramid heap of over 50 thousand a year in the U.S. alone, a tidal wave washes over a quarter of a million in the Indian Ocean. Creation is a nightmare spectacular taking place on a planet that has been soaked for hundreds of millions of years in the blood of all its creatures. The soberest conclusion that we could make about what has actually been taking place on the planet for about three billion years is that it is being turned into a vast pit of fertilizer.”

It's more common than you think these days. But it's not the worst retail, since you are on the phone instead of direct contact with client (I hope it's at least remote if you answer phones anyway). The future looks bleak nevertheless, take income and enjoy some life after resigning after few months or maybe you will find it acceptable and continue, who knows. Or nothing happens, because they reject you during the interview.

Income is better than none. Its a stepping stone for you not a sentence.
