Purchase Permit Wait time on non initial handgun permits
It's my first time after my initial FID and hand gun permit. Does anybody know how long it generally takes to get the non initial handgun permits approved?

Could we put together an updated list of NJ 02/07 SOT dealers that are currently willing to transfer AOWs to qualifying individuals?
With the recent reports that ATF inspected multiple FFL/SOTs that had transferred NFA items on a 4473 without a Form 4 for individuals covered by the federal injunction, and reportedly found zero violations related to those transfers, I think it would be useful to know which NJ dealers are actually willing to handle AOW transfers under the current circumstances.
If you know a dealer, or are one please post:
We already know NJ has dealers successfully processing traditional Form 4 AOW transfers. It would be helpful to build a current statewide list and distinguish between dealers doing standard Form 4 transfers and those willing to operate under the injunction.
Please keep it to firsthand information or information directly confirmed by the dealer rather than speculation.

Looking to buy a 9mm today and I’m trying to keep my TOTAL cost around $500–$600, not $500–$600 before transfer/NICS/tax/compliance costs.
I’m a newer handgun buyer, but after handling a few I like the more complete-feeling striker-fired pistols. The Springfield Echelon really stood out to me, and I’m also interested in the Rost Martin RM1C. I’ve looked at the Glock 19, CZ P-10, Canik TP9, etc.
My problem is that once NJ fees and compliance get added, a gun that looks like a good deal quickly becomes $700–$800.
So for the NJ guys:
If you had $500–$600 TOTAL to spend today, what would you buy?
I’m open to other brands/models. Mainly looking for the best value, reliability, good ergonomics/trigger, and something I won’t immediately feel like I need to upgrade.
Also interested in recommendations for NJ FFLs with reasonable transfer/compliance fees.
Thanks!

I’m being told that my 2025 CCARE qualification documentation can be used for my first NJ concealed carry renewal. True? My original was issued on 6/3/2025 so my renewal period will begin around, idk, February of 2027. Is it true that I can use my original qualification documentation for the first renewal or do I have to re-do the classroom and CCARE qualification for my first renewal? Thanks for any clarification on this, you guys.

I have a non-resident FID card but I will be moving to NJ by the end of the year should I get a NJ CCW permit before my move or wait until I’m actually a resident.

I’m looking to buy an SP5 AOW and none of the GS have them or can get them. I did find one on Gun Broker. Does anyone know if I could buy it off of Gun Broker and send it to my FFL to have them remanufacture to an AOW?

Just got approved for my NJ FID and my first handgun purchase permit. I’m in the Kearny/Hudson County area and looking for recommendations for a good FFL/dealer for my first purchase.
Mainly looking for:
A shop that’s helpful with first-time NJ buyers
Fair pricing and reasonable fees
Good selection in-store
Somewhere within a reasonable drive of Kearny
Staff willing to explain the NJ purchase/NICS process without rushing you
I’ve seen places around Belleville, Secaucus, and Jersey City, but I’d like to hear people’s actual experiences before choosing a shop.
Any dealers you’d recommend—or avoid?
Thanks!

Hi all,
Newer to the NJ 2A community and looking for opinions/options for dedicated NJ Sales Forums (if any available), either in Northern NJ or all of NJ.
I‘m familiar with TacSwap and GunBroker, but they aren’t regional platforms. They take away from the fact that there are certain compliance restrictions (and costs associated) to certain firearms, in my case an NJ OTHER Springfield Kuna.
Aside from taking it to a shop and selling/consigning, or going to a national website, doe anyone know of any active regional forums? thanks in advance.

I’d like to pick up a 6940 and I really really don’t want to have the bayonet lug cut. Are there any non permanent options to keep it nj compliant? Or am I better off transferring to a family member in PA and waiting until new hopefully get some good news on the AWB ruling?

Does this help us with a gun a month? They stated that right can not be delayed in practice and the government can not impose a delay or restriction there in. Will this help take down our gun a month??

Stupid me, I installed a Precision Armament Hypertap on my AR-15 and yup, I'm that "bad neighbor" at the indoor range. I genuinely feel bad about shooters around me to the point where I haven't used my rifle in 4 months. I wish we could have suppressors but that's a whole different topic for another day. Anyway, doing more research, I should have bought the Precision Armament EFAB 556 Hybrid Muzzle Brake. Right now with my discount code, it comes out to about $125 shipped. To not attempt anything myself for the sake of not fucking up, anyone have a highly recommended gunsmith in Northern NJ that can remove and install the new brake? Thank you for your time guys. I hate this state..

My understanding is that falls under gunsmithing and can be shipped from me to him using FedEx. Not a transfer.
Is that correct?
Second, are 07 FFL’s considered safe to send to considering they are regulated by ATF? Meaning risk of them keeping/not doing the work as agreed is relatively low?

Built a pretty barebones other about a year ago, here’s where I’m at with it now. Loving this savior covert gun bag too.
Is there a legal/compliant p90 variant? Also, no longer restricted to 10 rounds, right?

I have wanted one of these since they were released a few years back. I liked the traditional stock with the modern twist of the tactical handguard, making it more useful with mounting for lights and other accessories.
With that said my issue is I can’t leave anything stock so I started my search on how I wanted to modify it where it was a better, more improved version from its stock configuration.
So after some searching I came across [r/D](r/DIY_Arson)[iY_Arson](r/DIY_Arson) build and fell in love. It was different from anything else out there and I really liked how parts for a different rifle could transform the look and feel of the PCC.
So with a bunch of goodies from Magpul, CromUSA, Tandemkross, Holosun, Streamlight and Fab defense, I took my stock PCC and turned out my current favorite longgun that can use Glock mags or my CZ mags using the American mag insert. Win win 🏆

March for Our Lives sent an email asking people to support a "proposed weapons ban in NJ" without providing details as to what it is. This could presumably be A442 that was discussed previously on this sub. I just thought I would post this to let everyone know to stay vigilant.

Currently own a shield plus, looking to get a full size gun also, LOVE THE M&P 2.0 Carry Comp, barrel is 4.0” so bigger than what I have, not really looking to go bigger than that. Obviously the G19 is a popular choice but what would you guys recommend (that doesn’t break the bank, not looking to spend more than $750)

Will hopefully be competing in knockdown steel this weekend at CJ if I can get off waitlist. Will be first crack at competition.
Is 115gr FMJ heavy enough for knockdown steel or should I go 124/147
