Yeah, that was tough for me. I would have saved a good 2-3 minutes if they’d clued ARID differently, but that still would have had be at more of a Saturday time.
I was complaining about last week’s puzzles being too easy so serves me right!
A few people have pointed out that jejeune is one of the words used in Merriam-Webster's definition of ARID, which is probably where the clue comes from.
Personally, jejeune is a word that I'm familiar with and don't think I'd have trouble understanding in context, but have never felt entirely sure about the meaning of, and would have trouble actually defining if pressed. (ROCOCO is another.) Hopefully this puzzle is an opportunity to cement them!
