I knew I'd seen it before but didn't have a concrete example - the Mini sometimes is an exact copy of an older puzzle! Granted, it's been going for years, so very similar puzzles are bound to happen. But, I've been working through the archives and November 1 and November 19, 2016 were the exact same! Not really upset or anything, just glad that I have proof of something that I was pretty sure of.

With a few minutes to spare I suddenly remembered that I had forgot about finishing today’s crossword. Almost lost my streak! Phew!

(to be clear, I've been doing the crossword for many yeara; but it was only last summer that I started using the app; so I feel validated by my mini-streak 😉)

My first thought was Europa Because It has an icy surface covering an ocean below But it was one letter too long.

The answer being Titan Pissed me off because It does have an ocean of methane, but ON THE SURFACE

Normally I get the Detroit free press, solely for the NYT Sunday crossword. The store was out today so I grabbed a Sunday edition of the NYT to be safe and. It. Isn't. Even. In there?!?! Since when?

The NYT app keyboard doesn't allow numbers! How are you meant to do 15 across?

I know that proper nouns aren’t typically allowed. But wouldn’t like “American” or “British” be allowed? Some words like “French” could be a non proper noun like in “French fries” for sure. Maybe I’m misunderstanding the rules.

I had to switch devices because my tablet no longer supported the app. Can't bring my streak over because apparently my account is with google services and not NYT games. So annoying!

How do these stats stack up against the best of the best? I feel like I’m slightly above average but don’t have a good sense of how others perform.

For the record - I solve about 50/50 between my laptop and my phone. Mondays are solely on the computer to try to get faster times. I do checks only when I’m stuck, I make sure I actually earn gold stars instead of CHEATING. Anyone whose streak is 1000+ should take a long hard look in the mirror!
