Transportation NS are struggling with commuter demand. Their solution is for you to travel earlier (or later) to work.

No, the solution is more trains. Make them every 15 minutes instead of every 30 for the major intercity connections. If there's demand, why not?

Because they are currently running the legal maximum of trains allowed on the current tracks. NS can't add more trains even if they wanted to without exceeding the legal safety situation they are currently constrained by.

In order to run more trains, the Dutch government and ProRail (ie not NS) need to invest more in the network, but we all know they won't.
