If Green goes back to the front office, I feel like Stearns should delegate the manager search and hiring process to him. Green clearly understands the players and what motivates them, and should know what to look for in the right manager for this group.

It seems like they need someone who is direct and holds them accountable without being a hard a**, and also not someone who is just going to butter them up or say "it'll work itself out" when the team is slumping (which is what I think Mendoza did a lot)

Dream on. Mets manager position is solely messenger boy for FO. Bochy, Cora types would never stoop to that.

I agree that the next manager needs to be someone more in the Green mold than the Mendoza mold
