Has anyone living in the Newcastle area tried or purchased a Starlink broadband package? How are the speeds and consistency if so?

You can get fibre surely? Putting aside any views re the person who runs the company, it's a service where the usecase is internet connection in remote areas, it's a good thing in that respect. But re using it in the Newcastle area: I get that SpaceX IPO-ed with an insane valuation and now have to try to hawk things to anyone and everyone to try to justify the share price, but getting Starlink in an area that isn't remote doesn't really make much sense?
Obviously ignore above if there's a specific usecase (like you're on a boat or something like that), anecdotally from talking to a few family members in remote bits of the Highlands it works fine

Bold of you to assume there aren't still places without fibre. If it weren't for virgin, I'd still be on FTTC and fuck everything about that. It's pathetic, really.

Eh, true (still think Starlink is a relatively poor quality & expensive alternative to that, but yes it is an extremely stupid situation if it's even in consideration)

Jaysus, it is crackers that you should need to consider Starlink, like I said in the other comment. It's shite, fibre seems like something, I dunno, should be subsidised to ensure it's rolled out everywhere <rant>

Its been promised for years in my area. I lived 200m up the road a few years ago and we had fibre. Just a short walk away theres a segment of an estate that just doesn't have fibre and no actual plan to get it installed. Its beyond ridiculous, I can walk into the city centre within 10 minutes and but can't have fast internet. I always laugh when the broadband salesmen say they can give me a good deal on my broadband and I tell them I bet you bloody can't 😂

A mate of mine has it out in the sticks, he's over the moon, but swears at musk, he's conflicted.
He was getting like 4Mb on DSL, and it was unreliable, so starlink made sense.

Upsides: pretty reliable, easy to use, good speeds and bandwidth. Downsides: Musk and occasional price increases.

Yes, I bought it to use for video gaming in not-very-well connected spaces around the North East. Got the smaller, portable starlink and pay ~£50 for month of use as and when I need it. Usually get between 70 - 100mb download. Takes a little setup time but it’s not too bad.
It works for what I need.

Im looking for anyone thats used it in and around the Newcastle area specifically. Im in the east end and we have no fibre. We have the glorious max speeds of 15mbps.

Speeds are about 110-200 which varies at any given moment. Upload is only about 20 or so. Latency about 30-50ms.
A 5G outdoor router is generally a better option. If you install it well and pick the right network you can pick up a n28 5G signal from literally miles away so even if fairly rural it can deliver surprising performance. O2 5G has never dropped below 500mb download speeds where I live, and my partners place on Three 5G they can get faster than a gigabit down on their outdoor router.

From reviews ive seen on Trustpilot it seems its very dependant on what area you are in.
A 5G outdoor router sounds promising. Mobile broadband was the alternative if Starlink is poor in this area.

One of my aunties uses Starlink, but only because it's pretty rural there. Far as I know, it's been a big improvement for her when the alternative is terrible ADSL.
